I am running an 05 with a 4.6, and mine will idle like that if the A/C is on.

Try cleaning your MAF if you haven't.

So how do you plug the holes of the silencers/baffles? I hate the look of the stock tube

Hey Kd4crs,
Nice job with this mod. Adding Lowes part numbers was great, no guessing. I actually did this project on a 90 minute lunch that includes travel and time at Lowes! The band saw I was able to use to cut the plastic pipe really saved time. Thanks for the help!

I have a 2004 F150 5.4 2wd. Would the DMV intake mod not be a good idea.
Has anyone mod there 2004. Will it get worse gas mileage or should it be better.

Just wondering

Ed

Ed,
We don't have to do a smog cert here in Minnesota but I can't immagine how more air to the motor would produce more bad stuff (what ever the heck they messure) at the tail pipe. As far as mpg, mine went up. On a 250 highway run, cruise on the whole time (70mph), nothing in the box or being towed I averaged 18. I have no other mods, chips or anything. I think 18 is great for everything I've read here on the 5.4 2005 FX4.

had the girlfriend drive me to Lowes as we waited for my exhaust to get done, and they only had 10' long pieces of pipe. Was very dissapointed and put the rest of my goodies I had already found back where they were. Going to check Home depot tomorrow for the pipe and rest of the parts otherwise I guess this isn't happening for me. Because I am not going to keep 9 feet of pipe in the garage.

I completed this mod on Thursday. Nice boost of the throttle on take off now. Going up hills is a lot easier too. All around I am happy with it other than my MPG has dropped pretty big. I didn't reset the PCM while I was doing it though. Will have to see how things pan out.

put it together today.
I used PVC pipe, spray painted it black so it would look purty. Ignore the dirt, or don't. your choice.
