First truck. 15 years old. Help please.
So im 15 and im in drivers ed currently. Im a freshmen and will be driving next july. I am wanting to start saving money and asking truck upgrades for christmas. It's a 1999 f150 lariat with about 130,000 miles on it. Tell me what i should upgrade first that aint to expensive and then tell me some other things that are higher end?!
I refuse to help you because I'm 55 years old.
Tint is cheap and a great mod. Go get someone to buy you a can of krylon fusion and repaint the plastics that have probably faded out. Look into getting a leveling kit if you want a little bit of lift on it but not much.
Exhaust would be good but it can get costly, along with some new rims.

Still cant see pics but gotts mod, remove door moldings, painted valence, nightshade tails, paint your grill, paint bed caps and rear window trim are a few to name that are cheap

I'm a young driver too. 17. First thing I did was rims but they were about $2000 though so that's just me. But take a weekend off of doing stuff with your friends and sit down and smoke the tail lights, black out chrome or anything like that. Good stuff for chrome blackout is well Chrome Blackout by Duplicolor. Painted the chrome around my grille black and it only cost me about 19 bucks. I'm actually smoking my tail lights in a few hours as well as my third brake light. Red/black is a great color combo for trucks. So I'd personally take off anything chrome.
More expensive would be a lift, tires, wheels, supercharger if you wanna get into spending a lot of cash. I worked until I saved up enough money for my lift, tires and rims and now im working towards a new system, supercharger, body lift and 37s and im 18. Save money now by doing the small stuff so you have enough money to do what you want right the first time.
Yeah right now I'm just waiting for my dad to give me the "okay" on getting my front end naturally lifted 3 inches. I just ordered some "No Fear" Black/blue emblems for the ford badges on my truck. Should be in my next week and I'll def have pics up. Saving some money for HID bulbs which aren't too expensive considering the place my friend got them from for $68
Bah, you young un's get it gave to you, I have to work for 5 years to even afford my truck.
but, tint and thats it.
You are going to wreck, or break it, or do something REALLY stupid with it. So save your time and money, every time you go to buy something for that truck put that money in a savings account.
Later after you have learned to drive, and assuming you are still alive and able to drive you can buy a nice newer (or something else) car/truck and use the money you saved on it!
Rule of thumb, everyone (normally) wrecks or otherwise breaks the first car/truck they get, keep that in mind.
I wrecked and totaled two different cars (and had to fix them back) before I got my truck and learned to stop driving like a idiot.
Keep this in mind, ever dollar you put in that truck is $1 you ARE NEVER going to get back PERIOD! If I was you I would save my money, I wish I had half the money I spent on my first and second car back, I bet id would have at least $2,000 ($1,500 from stereo setup at least!) and all the other useless junk I bought.
A lot of times, first cars end up "riced out" on accadent.
Leave it alone, it was stock for 130K miles, leave it that way till you get some more sense and better judgment.
Also, I was a lot harder on my first two cars because they where bought for me, now I value and respect my truck because I have to pay for it, and I have to pay to fix it.

There is always the exception!
Silly kids,
get off my lawn!
Honestly, I would talk to your dad about doing things to your truck, and LISTEN TO HIM. Because I wish I had listened to mine.
I'm only 17 and I have too say i agree with Titan. I have a '95 flareside and I've broken the tires loose too many times without even trying and spun it in a wet intersection once. i got lucky and you have traction control but ive still had to get myself out of tricky situations in my dads '01 f-150 lariat
