I'm a mechanical engineer doing mostly civil engineering work, railroad related.

But about 3-4 months a year I go out in the field to do underwater inspection work, mostly piers, wharves, bulkheads and other waterfront structures for the Navy, various Port Authorities, Oil companies, etc. The above pic is from NYC. Here is looking towards downtown.

Generally speaking, you don't hafta be an engineer to do that type of work.

This is where I got my basic commercial dive training: http://www.minnesotacommercialdiving.com/

If you complete that course you'd be qualified to go out and work as an offshore diver for the oil rigs or something like that. If you wanted to make the big $$$ you could learn to weld underwater. Hopefully next year I'll go to a program that will teach the basics of that too.

I think it's pretty lame if you have to use a company logo to express yourself.

Ahah i don't work. I get my permit in two weeks. My parents bought it for me for like $7,500. My dad might buy the stereo and speakers for christmas for me but like rims, tires, tints, and lift kit will be my money so will gas of course. Imma start working somewhere soon and save my money. Once i get a job i think i have to pay 1/3 of insurance and when i get more money then half but idk for sure.

Oh and we had a toyoto truck that has 400,000 miles on it and it had little maintnence. I heard trucks last for a long time with little things like air filter changing and stuff.

You may be a good driver, but a lot of people out there suck at driving.

Reece, here is how it works, there are alot of opinions here as you have found out. Congratulations on your parents buying the truck for you, I think it's great. You sound like a kid who apreciates it, so that is good.

Remember this though, EVERYTHING COMES WITH A PRICE. That being said you now have a job, proving yourself worthy of such a gift from your parents, not just to them but to others around you! That means responsability in every sense of the word. Wanna mod the truck-go for it, wanna abuse it and act like a spoiled little snot, then give it back right now. I would like to think that if you screw up then Dad will take it away. You are 16 or soon to be, so remember what you do with it, to a certian degree, reflects on your parents. Make them proud!

If all this sounds like it's comming from an old coot...well it is. My parents bought my first bicycle for me, I bought everything after that. They "loaned" me a car for about 3-4 months when I was in H/S so I didn't have to ride my motorcycle to school in the rain and could save up for a car. I think it was one of the best things they did for me (make me pay my way).

Anyhoo, sorry for the long post. Enjoy your truck and post pics and cruise the site often!
Jim

Aha yea i do appreciate it and your completely right. They only thing i would do with my truck badly is go moderate mud riding if you know what i mean. Nothing bad and i would clean it up after...mud stuck on truck aint good for them.

nice man, id start with exhaust and maybe some bigger tires.

ignore the haters and arrogance on here. Iv'e always babied the hell out of my truck, hand waxed, drive like a grandpa, etc. and plan on keeping the truck as long as i live. not everyone is a stupid teenager.

its your first truck man its special, do what makes you happy, if you do a mod, do it right dont half *** things, and respect your father.

All I can picture are rides like this:

You need to either host the picture in your gallery on this website, or upload it to photobucket or something other hosting site. Then copy the web address for the picture and put around the address.

seriously, stay away from doing something you will get ridiculed at on a daily basis, enjoy your truck as i too am enjoying it go on ahead and do mods if you plan on driving that truck straight to the grave with you, and expect to do heavy maintenance since its in the 100s already, definitely stay in school. LONG story short 3 or 4 of my buddies dropped high school because they got very addicted to money and blabbing about whos truck was louder and faster, ignore this phase and always humble yourself as these things will get you nowhere and always look for advice round here before doing something your in doubt, ive been a member for a while and i really appreciate guys like ncsu around here, and it definitely helped me grow out of the stuff pictured above because i thought it was cool in high school:o
yes i live in miami driving on i95 you cant help to see a clown and their clown car on a daily basis
