This is NOT a deductible issue...no collision with another vehicle or property. If you have comprehensive, NO DEDUCTIBLE applies.

Call them back and ask to talk with someone who cares about keeping you as a customer.

I agree, if you can get the County to fess up to this, great! But, if they won't, your insurance Co. should be brought in to go after their ***.

The lady from the county called me back this morning and gave me the number to the contractor and the man in charge and also gave me the number to the subcontractor. I was also told when this happens, the contractor usually offers to pay to get the paint removed. I'll be calling them at 4:45 when I get my long break between classes. I'll keep y'all updated.

NOT necessarily - in fact, most comprehensive coverage DOES have a deductible these days. Mine doesn't, but I certainly pay more for it than I would if it had a deductible.

However, comprehensive claims do NOT increase your premium unless they become "excessive". It's not like collision claims.

It's sad that they don't put out cones so often that they already know that it's going to happen.

Ok guys, I am about to explode. I called the contractor and he told me he would give my number to the guy at the striping company and have him give me a call. Well the county had given me a number already so I called them up. The guy starts yelling at me saying there were cones on the lines and that they will not help with yellow paint because you are not suppose to cross that line. Then after yelling for a bit how they can't do anything he hung up on me. I am trying to get a number for someone else in the company and the contractor said he would give my number to a guy at Apex's office. There were no cones on the line, if there were I'd have a nice big ole dent in the front of the truck to compensate hitting one wouldn't I? I'm furious.

Keep at em man! If you give up, they win. I'm assuming you have the name of the guy that yelled at you? Keep calling the contractor... If you have to take them to small claims, do so.

I don't know if you have student legal services at your school, but at NC State they staff a small office to assist students with legal problems free of charge. When my paycheck bounced they helped me recover that lost pay (plus 3x the amount originally owed) from my dirtbag ex-employer. Didn't even have to go to court, just a few certified letters and they settled.

Going to have to look into that, thanks. I'm most definitely not giving up. Im furious beyond belief right now at how the guy who worked at the sub contractor treated me on the phone. He won't answer my phone calls right now either.

On our jobs (state), if a contractor denies a legitimate claim, we will often withold payment to him until the claim is settled. This is why it's important to keep in contact w/ the agency that is paying for the project. Let them know immediately if their contractor is giving you the run around. Try to get in contact w/ the actual agency person who is administering the contract (Resident Engineer/Inspector/Public Works guy). Also keep in contact w/ the prime contractor on the project ... he is ultimately responsible for all that happens on his project. You have a nice truck, so it's obvious you're not some guy trying to get a free paint job on his beater. By being courteous but persistent (not rude or obnoxious), someone will eventually say "...pay the man, make him go away ..."

Well, that's not right. You need to compose a letter and send it to the Road Commission and to all involved. Pic out a lawyer in your area that handles these types of situations, - but don't hire one yet.

On your, make absolutely sure you CC it to all involved and the Attorney. Don't send it to the attorney, just CC it so that it looks as tho you did. Also send it registered mail, so that they have to sign.

Do all this once and the first time, I bet you get it taken care of. It's worked for me in the past. It was money owed to me, but this is the same principle, more less.

Arguments over the phone and showing up in person won't usually boast results that a paper trail will. This may save you time and hassle.

Details count as well, so be specific in your letter. Like where it happened ie - cross street and/or approx footage from intersection. Make it look professional. Microsoft Word has some good layouts if you haven't done this sort of thing.

Ok so I got 3 calls during my last class today and finally stepped out and took the 3rd one. It was the guy in charge of Apex striping apparently. He told me it was quick driving paint and that this shouldn't have happened. However, where I told him I hit the paint was an area he said was very slow to dry due to being constantly in shade all day. He then explained to me that the paint is actually water based and it should come off with a detail. So he said the company will pay up to $125 for a detail on my truck to remove the paint.

Got home and scrubbed a bit and some of the paint did come off if I pressed hard enough, but going to try and get it detailed soon and if it doesn't work give him another try on fixing it.
