Got a nice "custom" paint job today... HELP
Yea, I did that before. The City or whom ever has insurance for this, -liability I believe, -they have to. I had to drop my vehicle off at an auto detailer and they took care of it, -professionally. Covered by their insurance.
That sounds like an easier route at the moment, But my county closed at 4:30. But before I head out to work tomorrow morning they will be receiving a call from yours truly.
Man, I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me a few years back, state was repainting the yellow lines and had it not been for the extended fender flares I put on, I would have had yellow specs all over my white paint. Took a plastic scraper and was able to get what little paint had gotten on the truck off with no damage to the truck it self (maybe some surface scratches which buffed out anyway). Good luck man, hope you get it off with no headaches!!
Yea, sucks and it's still a PITA regardless, but yuh gotta make the time. Trucks to nice to let it slide and they have the good stuff at the detailers. More than likely you'll get the entire truck shined up, might come out ahead.

That happened on my moms van about 10 years ago.
FIRST call the DOT or whoever was painting, they layed the paint to thick. Road paint should dry in a minute or less (typically) if it didn't that means they laid it on thick. If they didn't have cones or barrels keeping you off the paint until it dried it was negligent on their part.
My moms van went to a body shop ( I think). they had a solvent that would take the street paint off without hurting the auto paint or clear coat.
I have seen this several other times as well. It's unfortunate, but I don't believe it is that uncommon.
The DOT even paid for the removal of the street paint.
You can do it yourself but you have a sore thumbnail.

Damn the more i look at your truck the sadder i get. I can only imagine what your thinking. I would get the address of the county office or who ever it is and i would drive the truck there and let them see it with there own eyes.
Also since more than likely there insurance is going to cover it so take it to the best body shop you can find in the area. Its there screw up so let them pay the money to get it done right the first time.
Let us know what they say.

Dude ok honestly that looks awesome! Haha ya i know I'd probably get it fixed too but still.... Ya know ya could just find out who did it, tell them to paint another section of the road and then run over it with the other side and paint it! Then paint the star on your rockstars yellow (for an accent)- I've seen a guy do it who had a yellow FX4 and it looked sweet. Haha just a suggestion but I bet it would look really good. Oh and if not- to get the other side to match go up to your painter and have him just copy it to the other side
......ya know but thats just what I would do!
That happened to me awhile back and i fought and fought with DOT and the construction company laying the yellow paint, they swore to it that the paint dries as soon as it hits the pavement even though it was all over my truck.
So hmm i guess i just threw yellow paint all over the side of my truck and wheel wells. NOT. Anyways they never paid or offered to do anything so i had to take care of it myself.

Damn!
The paint they use for roads is nasty to to clean, I'd go to a trusted body shop and see what they have for you before it bakes on there any longer.
And try to get the pavement Picaso's to foot the bill!

I would also go to where they were painting and get a pic of your tire tread going right through the paint. Then you'll have a case against them. Otherwise they could say it came from somewhere else that is not their responsibility.
Contact whoever owns the road (city, county, state) and find out who was putting the stripe down (city crew or private contractor), and file the claim w/ them. If it's a private contractor and they blow you off, contact the city/county/state that hired them. It's the responsibility of whoever put down the stripe to protect it from traffic (signs/cones/lane closure), until it dries. The stuff doesn't come off easily ... I work as an engineer on highway construction projects, and no matter how careful I am, every truck I've had got paint on it sooner or later
