Saleen Tailgate

Anyone know if it's possible to pick one of these up?

I don't know if its just a panel to go over the existing tailgate or you have to get a new tailgate, but I want one... bad.

I can't find anywhere that mentions if it's for sale.

Well, if I had to take any guess, your local ford shop might be able to order you one. It should be a match up as long as your year is specified.

I can tell you for certain that it is a new tail gate. I had to have mine replaced due to a defective pin when I picked up my Saleen in DEC. The tail gate has about 20 connector holes in it for the black piece to attach to.

Wrong. My panel just arrived on Saturday from Saleen. It's a fiberglass panel that is mounted to the tailgate with about 8 bolts. You just simply have to drill the holes and attach the nuts through the access panel on the inside, top of the tailgate.

The part is not cheap though. Paid $189 without the shipping

Ag Lightning, I got mine today too. Did you get application instructions? I didn't and wanted to make sure I was applying it properly. Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks

No, no application instructions. All you need to do is remove the tailgate from the truck, remove the access panel located on the inside top of the tailgate, center the Saleen panel on the tailgate, mark for your holes and drill. I used a 1/2" drill bit and was quite successful. Once you've got the holes drilled and everything lines up, apply the supplied 3M on the bottom of the Saleen panel (I also applied a thin bead of the 3M emblem adhesive all the way around the part for good measure.

Lastly, apply the panel to the tail gate and install the tailgate back on the truck. Once you've got the tailgate on, you can now screw on the washers and nuts through the access panel. To save you some time, the nuts are 10mm

Simply snug down without over tightening and your done! It does help if you have a small, SKINNY, pair of arms and hands... The two nuts at the bottom are VERY hard to reach.

Hope this helps

As I said... New Tailgate. Surely anyone can hack up, drill, grind to get anything to fit on anything.
Sorry... Mine came with the holes already prepared.
Good luck. Hope it turns out how you want it too
