Raptor, why dont ya try to do something a bit more productive with your 3 years? Not to knock your dreams of being a VFF or anything.. but why not just go to a local community college and become an EMT or something along those lines..?

well I'm shooting for a career in aviaiton. ive been in love with planes since i was 3 or 4 years old. if i love doing that kind of stuff, sure. the cheif loves my dedication enough he wants me to go to our local CC and get fire 1&2, paramedic, EMT, etc so our station can run with the paid guys.

just trying to finish high school right now, only 4 more months to go! i cant wait!

Dear Lord, I had no idea you would be so extensivly certified in the emergency services feild. You by all means need as many lights as your battery and alternator will support. Oh, and two sirens. One on wail and one on yelp. You know, just in case someone stubs thier toe.

it says "scare them off road" NOT "scare them off THE road" there is a difference.

thanks for letting me know. this thread is like 2 year old. i did those lights back in high school. lay off. its not like i was driving down the street pulling people over or pretending to be a cop. i dont know what kind of problems yall have in Georgia. but when you see lights here, you move. there arent just tons of kids running around with lights making people think twice about moving for emergency vehicles. get over it

Ethan, dont bother with this guy.

GTRider, its fine and dandy if you support what people do to help other people. But by all means, please hold that to yourself, we really dont care of what you have to say, its not going to change anything...

ha wow this kinda of exploded. I do agree though, being in the public safety field, it is kinda of annoying to see kids with lights on their truck who have no use for them except to mess with other people. And just for another insight, when we have applicants show up to volunteer that already have lights on their trucks, we do kinda throw them to be bottom of the pile, so to speak.. You might be hurting your chances here..

well i'm not an "applicant" so to speak. ive been to every meeting our station has had (except last week, i actually forgot ) since almost a year now. just about everyone has a siren and a few guys run lights. albeit im the youngest onei n the group, we're the counties "favorite" VFD because of the effort we do and the response times we can achieve as running POV

And yet you still have yet to give a valid reason why you need to run lights and sirens in a POV.

I guess he needs them to get to the meetings on time. We arent allowed to run any lights or sirens, if we did we would be no doubt thrown out of the company but our response times are still very low. As for being the countries "favorite VFD" I dont even know what to say, I know about 3 off the top of my head that claim to be the best or the fastest in the country and thats just around here. Make your claims and have pride in your company but know that outside your immediate area no one knows or cares about your company. Harsh but the reality of the volunteer service. Save your money on lights, get some training, and just do what you do.
