Emergency Lights

Who here has emergency lights? For undercover law enforcement or volunteer firefighters, etc. I'm looking to buy some and having a hard time. Would also like a siren.

Thanks

Well... I know you are about to get blasted for the legality of this... I assume you know that it is VERY illegal to do this, so if you decide to, just dont get seen/caught by anyone who doesnt think its funny. Especially cops.

BUT... I have an amber lightbar (for use on the local Base) and 2 red LED lights for when I am enroute to FD calls. I will try to get pics/video of it going. I would like to improve on what I have, but it is a bit cost prohibitive, which leads me to ask you this:
Do you have any idea how much it all costs? A siren+speaker alone is going to run you $200-250 and the lighting can run you anywhere from $50 for something small and cheap all the way up to $2000. Are you really prepared to drop that kind of cash for some scaring your friends? Not to mention it will land you in jail if you EVER get caught.

Moral to the story: If you are not authorized vehicle lights, dont get them. They pose a VERY high risk to you AND those around you.

Did you know that (at least in TX) if you are running vehicle lights and ANYONE around you gets in a wreck it is YOUR fault??!! And, even if you are NOT running the lights, if you get in any kind of wreck and the other person sees that you have them (again, even if they are off), it is your fault.

Do you still want vehicle lights? Go to www.galls.com. I cant remember if they require a Chief's authorization, though. Do some Google searches, and you will come up with some good places.

FWIW-- I am a volunteer FF/EMT/NASAR type II. I have been doing POV response to the station for about a year now, and have experience with 3 fire departments (I haven been at one for the whole time, one simultaneously for a shorter while to help out, and am trying to switch over to another now.) Not to say that I am the expert, but I have seen a LOT of problems due to this sort of thing (even when the lights were authorized but being used inappropriately)

Be safe.

i am fully aware of the laws against them. in texas it is a class d felony if you are caught using them. mine cannot be seen because its just a relay switch that makes it lights flash back and forth.its a little box under my dash. its not like a huge lightbar on my roof. i bought them strictly for off road use for when me and my friends are out 4wheelin. i dont have to worry about wrecks being my fault since i never use them on the road.and since you cant tell i have them unless you break apart my headlights.

Just makin' sure We dont need any F150Online members going to prison...

BTW-- unless I am mistaken (and by no means does this even really matter), only misdemeanors are alpha-designated (ie: class A, B, C, D) and felonies are numerically designated (ie: first degree, second degree, third degree, and capital)... Any TX Peace officers want to contribute?

check sirennet.com................they have good deals. there are plenty of sites that sell them just do a search and check them all for the best deal. idk about texas but her in ny first, second and third degree relate to the charge...........ie....rape 1st and then it is given the classification of a B felony. idk if i would get the siren though. its one thing to get lights another to add the siren. that would be hard to explain your intentions and most police officers aren't going to believe you when you say its for off road. i have lights in my truck because i am a volunteer fireman and a police officer. when i get a chiefs position in the fire dept. i will add the siren.

When I graduate college and my truck is put into my name, I'll add some Hella hide-away strobes to it. I saw in local car show some kid had them in his Chevy 1500 and I love the way they look. Plus, my mom and dad are law-enforcement officers and the truck is in my dads name, does that count?

it only counts if he is the one driving the truck. if you get caught driving with them on, you will probably be in trouble. but if your parents are law enforcement officers im sure they could get you out of something like that

I will post pics of my truck soon. I am a full-time firefighter in Lexington County, SC and volunteer with the local Rescue Squad. I have a 48" patriot strobe/LED light bar on the roof, a whelen slimlighter in the front glass, two linz6's in the rear glass and two tir3's on the rear bumper. I also just bought a Carson SC-550 remote control siren to control everything.. I might post a few videos when i finish running wires.

well... im not big on switches... my bronco had switches and wires everywhere and i couldn't stand it.. i wanted my truck to be a clean install... and what way to keep it clean than to not see it at all! that's where the carson sc-550 siren comes into play. everything is run into the siren amplifier, which is in turn controlled by the remote control that i have in my console until i want it. my lights are controlled by a 4 position slide switch on the remote along with my siren which is controlled by a **** on the control. the remote doubles as a PA mic also. it's a pretty neat siren. sadly there are no videos of the sc-550 on youtube, but google it and you'll see a good picture of it.
