the truck is in the shop to get line-x and the roush exhaust put on i get it back tomarrow, and I will take pictures of it then, and get them posted.

 

I'm wanting to do the same thing, but thought about actually getting a 6" holesaw on a drill press and flushing the lights into the grill just like the 400 dollar models they sell. Think it would work?

 

might work but if it doesn't then you're out a grille

 

I went a slightly different route from most, if not of you.

On my headlights, I painted the turn signal area. I figured the only area that really needed reflectivity was the headlight bulb area. I also tinted the orange reflector.

As for the fogs, these are different from most people too. I only painted the top and bottom of the housing, so I didn't lose any light output.

Ok so I have read every post and I'm still waiting to see some one with a white headlight

 

Okay, I finally got up the nerve & time to attempt to pull this off. It was pretty easy and looked great. Then I put them back on the truck. Within 45 minutes the lights began to fog up inside. It continued to worsen. The condensation would go away a bit when I turned the lights on just to return after I turned them off. I finally figured it out - I used a tube of silicone that I had sitting in the basement for future home projects (I like to stock up on things when they are on sale). Anyway, i went and grabbed another tube and figured out that it was water based "for easy clean up". After attempting to remove the condensation multiple times, I finally tossed the lights back in the oven. It worked quite well, but turned the satin black paint into a gloss black The lights still look great, but I think they looked better before the paint turned shiny.

So, FYI, DO NOT use water based silicone for this project!

 

I started doing mine today. I got them apart very easily and im working on taking off all the old sealant. It is very hard to get all this sealant off the black housing and noone has mentioned having difficutly removing theirs so i figured id ask for a tip on getting mine off. Its taking forever right now...
Also i want a gloss black color paint, what paint should I buy?

 

my friend used automotive paint on his vw gti. he said it hasnt pealed yet n its shinny

 

Well I got all the sealant off, I just kept having to pop the blak housing back in the oven for a few minutes to get it soft and peal it off with some needle nose. I bought krylon gloss black paint and 1000 grit sand paper. I sanded one and put on one layer of paint.

There are little raised spot on the light, i dont know why but im gunna go and sand em back down and spray another layer on.

So far everything has been very simple and easy. Hardest part so far is getting all the old sealant off.

 

Just finished painting both lights. Now all I have to do is wait for the paint to dry, not sure how long I should wait?, and reseal them. Hopefully it will all be done tomorrow and Ill post pics!!
