BREAKING NEWS: Next Gen 2015 F-150 to be shown at Detroit Auto Show in January!!!

DETROIT (Reuters) -- Ford Motor Co. plans to offer a peek at its 2015 F-150 pickup truck at the Detroit auto show next month, the latest example of attempted one-upmanship in the highly competitive American truck market.

The teaser for the next generation F-150 takes direct aim at General Motors, two people familiar with Ford's plans told Reuters. GM's new trucks, which the automaker unveiled this week, are its most crucial launches since its bankruptcy restructuring in 2009.

But GM's redesign, shown to reporters and analysts on Thursday, were "evolutionary, not revolutionary," said Barclays Capital analyst Brian Johnson in a research note today, echoing a sentiment expressed by several other analysts. This provides an opening for Ford to seize attention from GM's lineup during the Detroit show, one of the industry's most anticipated events of the year.

Im sure the 5L will soldier on, but i wouldnt be surprised to see the 6.2 go away(at least on non raptor trucks anyway).

Word is, it will be a concept. It definitely won't be the flesh and blood 2015, that I can guarantee!

But it will be good to get a glimpse of it. I can't wait!

By teaser I thought they were just going to show a portion of it. If they show the whole concept that would be amazing. GM is in big trouble. I wonder what they must be thinking.

It must be good if they are ready to take one to the chin of GM this soon. Probably something they feel GM can't just whip up within the next year or two? Maybe revolutionary frame materials, panels, etc....

Ford does not have a thing to worry about with General Motors IMO... GM has been booted into 3rd place imo with how well Ford has done since 2009 ( not just with F-150 ) and Dodge, oh excuse me, RAM.. has really upped its game to luxurious Ford standards and performance as well. So GM is already sweating imo.

And as for this, I think it is much too soon for an entirely new generation truck... At least an 8yr run would be nice. I somewhat consider the '09/'13 a re-vamped '04/'08, but they still are very much different and way more improved.

Shoot. This makes me want to get into an '11+ 5.0L FX4 even more now. One exactly like NastyFX4's would make me very happy. One day!

Yes, maybe it will happen. And maybe they will add TiVCT as well.

Cool, I'm looking forward to the 2015. I basically only got this 2012 to hold me over for two years. I already have a buyer for this truck.
