The diesel would probably be better towing. The 3.5 is under powered so its boosted. You need boost to tow so it sucks fuel. Obviously depends on load but I could definitely see a diesel getting better mpgs if the emissions is figured out to be more economical

The US Gov't here hates diesel. They're all in on ethanol. Diesel cars are more the norm in Europe and get high mileage, and are clean. Here the diesel regs are outrageous. Both of those reasons have got a lot to do with the lack of new diesel vehicles here.

Ya think its regs? I'd ask because VW, BMW, MB all have substantial diesel models in the US production chain.

Other than the sound you wouldn't know it was a diesel. Power is amazing and it drives like a BMW. The only other vehicle in the running was the explorer which had more room but did not have the same amenities. And it did not drive like a BMW lol. I actually preferred the tech in the explorer, but the Mrs. Preferred the power and handling of the X5.

I think GM has really screwed the pooch with their supposedly "new" design. Almost everyone was pushing for a read pushing of the envelope and instead they got another "evolutionary' design that isn't that much of a departure from the truck they build in the 1990s. Meanwhile Ford and RAM really push the envelope in styling and technology. IMO, if this continues, RAM will supplant Chevy as the number two truck brand.
I can't wait to see what Ford has in store for us but I think I'll be very happy with my 2012 FX2 for a long time..

Highly doubt it, too much brand loyalty. GM is still selling a ton of trucks despite a very ugly, underpowered, and outdated 1/2 ton.

The latest information regarding the new 2014 or maybe 2015 F-150 was announced this morning. It looks like we'll see the addition of 2 new engines and quite a few nice features we've all been waiting for.
-Heated Steering wheel
-Extensive use of Aluminum
-multi contour seats like the SHO/MKS
-360 degree camera
-Active park assist
-LED box lighting
-tailgate dampener
-box with storage for ramps
-remote unlocking tailgate
-LED headlamps
-Active grille shutters
-stop start technology
-AND MORE...
As far as engines the 5.0L v8 and the 3.5L ecoboost are here to stay and are rumored to have increased fuel economy ratings along with more towing capacity thanks to the use of aluminum. They will be joined by a 2.7L V6 ecoboost 320hp/375 ft/lbs and a 3.5 N/A entry level v6 280hp/250 ft/lbs.
For those of you wanting a 6.2l V8 now is your time to go out and get one or order one before they are a thing of the past.

Yup, my wife and I picked up a 2012 x5 diesel in July. The car stickered for $62,500 but with the BMW loyalty, instant diesel credit, trade in and then the federal incentive we drove out at $39k and change. The car averages 21' around town and a solid 28 on the highway at 75mph. I believe it holds 21 gallons and my wife fills up twice a month.

Badass!!! I'm really excited to see what the actual weight loss is. Even if they dont power boost the 5.0 and Eco it will be quite a bit faster then previous models. I would love to see the 2015 Eco with a livernois tune. It may be mid to low 12s!!!
Also, the price on the new F150s is already to high in my opinion, I cant wait to see how much this adds to it.

Thanks for posting Rambo. I was just searching NAIA's website for the time/date.
I hope Ford makes it as big of an event as when they unveiled the new Fusion. Probably won't though since it's a concept and not an official release.
