If it truly weighs 700 pounds less, and has this motor available like some rumors say, then I'll order right now.

Not a new motor, but who is going to add a 5000+ or more price tag to their F150 just to have this engine? Doubt the market is there...

Does anyone else find it curious that this is a current body style truck with a set of 5x135 bolt pattern wheels on it?

Rumor is that this maybe an F100/Ranger type truck that is about the size of the 97-04 trucks. Or maybe the newbody trucks will have the weight of the old bodys and they are testing parts designed for less weight

If Ford didn't see fit to offer this engine in the new Transit that's coming out, I highly doubt it's going to be used in the F150 any time soon. Ford actually brought that engine into production in their Mexico engine plant. However it is solely for Range Rover's sold in Europe.

They MIGHT put the 5 cyl Powerstroke that is confirmed for the Transit in the F150, keyword is MIGHT.

True. But one thing they could do is replace the 6.2L in the non-raptor F150s with the 4.4L diesel as the premium engine. The 6.2L has a huge price markup already, and with the new CAFE standards and knowing diesels get far better mileage then the heavy 6.2L, it sort of makes sense.

You make a good point. If they shed the 6.2 and brought in a diesel they might have a shot; though as you can see with the constant pissing match between 3.5 and V8s - I'm sure some guys would complain that GM/RAM had bigger motors...

Maybe a 3.7, 3.5TT, 5.0, 4.4DT is in order The question I'd have is, what more does the F150 need? I mean, towing wise. I think mid-400 torque is more than enough for the towing capacity of that frame...but maybe I'm wrong.

People wont be satisfied with 400, 500, 600+ torque, we always want more!

Does it need more? Probably not. But you see people complain of 8mpg while towing with EB. What if the 4.4L returns 16-20mpg while towing, much like the larger diesel trucks? To many, that would be a huge selling point.

I think if that market truly existed, it would be in construction fleet trucks, and would have happened a long..long..time ago.

Maybe this can be a option??
Considering the new GT500 receives an aluminum, supercharged 5.8-liter V-8 engine that produces 650 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, which is a huge increase compared to 2012 model’s 5.4-liter V-8 which produces only 550 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque.

I say yes to either in a FX4 or Raptor

Hopefully Ford will stay the course and allow the ecoboost to compete with other 1/2ton diesel applications. I believe there is a small market for diesel 1/2tons but from my experience the 3.5L twin turbo meets those needs and then some. True, fuel econ would be better in a 3.5L-4.5L diesel but any financial savings are circumstantial - i.e. your payback period for more costly fuel and a more costly engine.
