Somebody slap me....

So I have been patiently waiting for the new Raptor Supercrew to come out along with the 6.2L V8, and have been telling everyone that is what I am getting (even joined up on the Raptor forums). But today I dropped by the dealer to test drive one before I ordered mine, and they just sold their last one. Instead, I saw a beautiful silver Platinum with the EcoBoost engine, so I took that one out for fun.

I am sold, sold, sold. What a beautiful truck, but that new EcoBoost was a real hoot to drive AND gets really decent mileage (relatively speaking). Since I live in the high desert, I thought the Raptor would be fun and I definitely love the way it looks. But now I am not so sure.

Damn Ford. (joking)

Now I don't know what I want to do.

Give me your "old" truck and go take a walk to think harder about it

Will you actually be using the Raptor if you get it? If not I would say ecoboost. Either way, knowing your track record it WILL be one sweet looking truck!

Your current trucks looks better than any Raptor I've seen. You've been driving the equivalent of a Raptor for a while now, with everything you've done to that bad boy FX4. So if you're really needing a new toy, maybe the Plat is the way to go. And like Truck Guy said, wouldn't mind taking care of your old truck while you decide, LOL.

I personally think the platinum will be more practical for everyday use and towing/hauling.

Get the raptor is you actually do plan to off-road it though.

Desert dawg I have the exact same problem, exact same. It's wanting trucks on two very different ends of the spectrum..

I am still leaning towards the raptor. Will I use it to it's full potential? Hell no, but having one would increase the chances of making trips to the desert to use it. Plus I put the looks of a raptor over any other f150 right now. I get tired of hearing everyone say not to buy one if you won't off road it or if you own one you can afford the gas... It gets old. Most raptors won't go off road, just like how many lightnings or shelbys are on the drag strip? People buy them cause they can and it's what they want!

Everyone has a platinum or FX4 anymore and I hate being mainstream. The EB is very sweet, not knocking it at all, but I love the raptor. The EB will be around a while, but the chance to own a new raptor won't hang around forever.

I can afford it and the gas, plus I have never loved a truck at first sight like I do the raptor. I hated the 04-08 model year when it first came out and a year later I decided they where alright

Every single one of your trucks have been awesome. I envy you. Seems like you have a tough decision to make.

Dang you FX4life...lol...I thought most of the folks here were making sense to me and really helping towards my logical decision to buy the Platinum (thanks to everyone who responded!). But yes, I am in that same dilemma as to deciding between two very nice vehicles with different missions. I can afford the Raptor and gas too, but darn if that EcoBoost doesn't make more sense and is still plenty powerful, and I was taken aback by the Platinum I test drove.

But the Raptor is more of an emotional decision because I absolutely love the looks and stance, the performance it represents (and yes, I will take it out in the desert but not as often as some would want to justify the purchase), and the exclusivity as you mentioned. Of course, I am already modding it in my mind...lol.

Now if only the Raptor already came with the EcoBoost, but that's an entirely different thread.

Thanks!

How about you buy the raptor and a spare eb engine, take out the 6.2 and give it to me and install eb. Then we are all happy lol

Now that makes sense (except the part about giving you the 6.2...)!

Sorry man! I understand the dilemma between the two though. You will probably make a decision long before me. I would also love to see an EB raptor but I think that is a mear pipe dream at the moment. I have already run up about 10k in mods to any potential raptor in my head

I just don't like the fact it's going to be a bear to modify the EB. the fact that you can't have ford adjust tire sizes sucks. I'd love to get a plat and just a bit more aggressive stance with a bit larger tire. Nothing radical, but I lose my warranty because to adjust for the tires I have to get a tune. This is why I am still leaning on the raptor, it already has the aggressive stance I am looking for.
