Somebody slap me....
2012 Raptor info is slowly coming out now.... No more molten orange for the 2012 model year, but Race Red is an option!
Blue now has competition.. I can't wait to see one in Red!

Thanks DR...yes, it does some. I would go with a metallic but that is not too far removed from being a grey-green...maybe a tad lighter in color with clearcoating. Also interesting, looks like they went with a clam shell hood which is kind of cool.

I would go with a semi metallic or full on metallic, I do not care much for the flat paint look. Draws/sucks the life out of me, LOL. I like some "pop" to a paint job.
The hood is a one-piece, has the hood and fenders all together molded out of fiberglass. Lighter than the stock parts and "more" durable to high speed bouncing around in the desert and has more flex if in facts it bumps something light.

Is that race red? or molten orange still? I can't tell the difference in artificial light
I tried to chase down a silver screw raptor today, but he alluded me... I ended up at the dealer anyhow for some parts and test drove the new EB FX4 they got in stock... such an impressive torque monster.. I would have been somewhat tempted to see what kind of deal they would make if it would have had a moonroof, nav, tailgate step and the bed extender.

I am a hardcore offroad freak to boot and would love a Raptor, as I cut my teeth with a pretty serious PreRunner. Simply put, I will not buy one until it comes with that EcoBoost as an option so it will make sense to own for everyday. $4-5 gal gas and 12-14 with the 6.2 doesn't make it practical
Here is my PreRunner

I've only had this for a little under a week now, but this is the finest everyday truck I've ever owned---hands down FX4 EB. Certainly not a Raptor, but my mind races at what it would be like in a Raptor, it would certainly mop the floor with the 5.4's out there if not out perform the 6.2 because of weight. With a modified race style airbox those turbos would live in the desert
Sweeet prerunner! Baja is definitely something I want to experience, if not get into at some point. I have always been fascinated by it. I really wanted to head down to the Baja 1000 this year, we will see if that still happens, but I love this video of last years!

I am with you on the EB raptor, was would be many others. I think its a great idea, but like you mentioned everyone I have talked to about it says the turbo'd engine would never last in the dusty environment. Maybe you should mention a modified airbox to SVT and Ford so we can get this show on the road

I want the raptor purely for looks, and then the off road adventures I could have with it. I LOVE the aggressiveness of the Raptor over all other F150's. I love the seats on the raptor too, they have more wrap around and cush than a regular FX4 does.
There is a lot I don't like about getting another FX4, but I am still torn. The blue flame FX4 you picked up looks great though!

FX4 Life,
You really haven't lived until you've let your hair down and romped on the throttle of what the Raptor is capable within the limits of your drving ability (still needs a cage and harnesses IMO). The Raptor is a p*ss poor Jeep if you are just doing trail riding, its meant to take rough terrain and fire roads at speed that would rattle the dash off a regular F150 or FX4. I got a test ride at the 2010 Parker 425 with a Ford guy and it was an experience I will never forget
I am perfectly happy I ditched my 2500 Duramax Crew tho for this EcoBoost FXR. When financces allow I will retire my PreRunner and luxuriate myself with a R Raptor XT and have some real fun, with unrestricted engine roaring, and air conditioning cooling my stones
