2010 A/C Performance
Has anyone put a vacuum-operated coolant valve in the hose to the heater core to improve hot weather A/C performance. The A/C in my new truck is average at best where my 2003 Super Duty always gets the air so cold that you have to direct it away from your left hand to keep it from getting too cold. The Super Duty has a vacuum-operated valve to shut off coolant flow to the heater core when you have the A/C set to Max. I would like to try this; but, being old and lazy, I have no objection to copying someone who already did this and can recommend a part# and especially where to connect the vacuum line to close the valve when Max A/C is selected. Thanks in advance for any replies.

It seems like my 10 SCrew will be nice a cool some days and others the air coming out takes forever to get to a comfortable level. It does take longer with it is 110 like today but I know it will take longer then. Just seems odd that some days it is cold air coming out after 2 minutes or so.

Wow, what a variety of responses - my '10 FX4 is so much better cooling than my '04 was - I thought my '04 always needed to be on recirc even here in WI. My '10 I just set the temp at 66 and let it be. I never give it another look until it starts to get cold and I need defrost on the glass.

I have a '10 XLT SCab. I thought the AC sucked compared to the Expeditions I was driving before I moved to an F150 (best choice I made by the way) so when my first oil change was due I took it to the dealer and had them look at the AC as well. Turns out there was a hole in the AC line. They are waiting for the part to come in. I'll let you know how it it working once it is fixed.

I'll chime in.
I've had a 2010 SuperCap for a month. Traded in a 2009 Tacoma Double Cab. Right away, I noticed the AC was no where near as cold, or effective, as the Taco's Double Cab. I understand the temps are outrageous, but it's not much different than a month ago when the Taco cooled down rapidly.
I have no clue what is causing those of us posting here the problem. I have the saddle interior...not black, so that's not an issue. I also keep a good windshield visor on during the day.
I'm taking it to Ford in the morning for an unrelated issue, and will ask them for an answer (other than it's "normal". Which I'm not buying).

My black XLT's a/c works great. My daughter was freezing yesterday @92* and 85% humidity. I always have my rear widow cracked and driver's window cracked, too. Yeah, cuz I smoke. I don't run the MAX setting and draw in outside air.

Mine stinks. I just drove an hour round trip in 96* weather, and was about ten minutes from home when I finally could turn it down from 3 to 2. 4th setting is too noisy.
BTW it's a 2010 White XLT Supercrew. My wifes 04 Explorer, my old 98 GMC and 07 E150 all cool way better than this truck. All are white.
