I seem to notice it's humidity related. It can be in the 90's with low humidity and it seems to cool okay. When it's high though.. YIKES.. glad I have cooled seats. As with most others.. I've taken it in twice and been told it's performing as it should. WTF??

I would agree. I don't have a problem with how cold the air is that blows, but it doesn't seem to get cool enough in the cab (10 Screw). I can run the A/C cranked for 1/2 an hour and the cab is still warmer than I like with an outside temp of 25 degrees (Canada).

Around town my 2010 Screw's AC is useless. But at highway speeds its fine. To me it's obvious that there is not enough air moving either across the condenser or compressor. I'm thinking of adding an auxiliary electric fan somewhere to try to move more air.

my '10 screw with the auto HVAC does awesome. after about 15 minutes on a 100+ degree day and the cab is cool. i just set it to 70 and im comfy. today i was on a long trip - and half way through i had to turn it up to 74 just to stay comfy - i was getting froze out.

A/c

The a/c system in the 04-08 was inadequate compared to the previous generation (97-03). I was hoping the 09-10 was improved even though I didn't see anything in the new for 09 info. about it- guess it's still the same system.
I think the evaporator is too small myself.

I wouldn't say my '09 is crappy...but it does take a while to cool down the truck to a reasonable temperature.

I've noticed the same with my 2010 Platinum. On a 95 degree day, I can sit idling in the parking lot and the cab won't cool down, but as soon as I get out on the road, even 20 mph is enough to get effective cooling. Perhaps an auxiliary electric fan on the AC condenser coils would solve the problem.

I suspect the tuxedo black color magnifies the problem.

I agree. My 8 year old 2002 F150 will freeze you out of the cab if you leave it on high for longer than 15 minutes.

The Super Duty has a vacuum-operated valve to shut off coolant flow to the heater core when you have the A/C set to Max. I would like to try this; but, being old and lazy, I have no objection to copying someone who already did this and can recommend a part# and especially where to connect the vacuum line to close the valve when Max A/C is selected. Thanks in advance for any replies.
Before going through with any of this, take it to your dealer, tell them your complaint then have them evacuate and recharge the system. It should be covered by warranty.

Max A/C cools the interior more efficiently because it recirculates the cooled interior air instead of pulling in the hot outside air. High humidity will also make cooling more difficult because the condenser can't give up it's heat to the outside air as effectively.

Tbird69,

I've been to the dealer 3 times. It didn't work.

2010 STX Scab and I'm not overly impressed by the A/C performance.

Thank you stupid Leftist eco-freaks for making my A/C suck.... bastards.

How I long for the cooling power of my little 86 VW GTI.... 1100 grams, almost 39 ounces, of superior R-12.
