Ok we know how they will look, we know the trim levels etc.

We don't know:
- payload
- towing
- HP fo 5.4L
- If the 6.2L will be a reality.

From reading all the various postings over the last 3 months... I'd venture a guesstimate of 315 hp for the 5.4L.

BTw, I read the order guide for the 09 GMs is out April 14th. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the specs and ultimatly confirmation of the 6.2L / 6 speed happens at that time.

But us Ford guys will sit back and wait....
And wait,
and wait.

To quote Tom Petty: the waiting is the hardest part...

They could have told you a month ago what the specs were but it still isn't going to put your butt in one any sooner... The specs will be out before you can actually go test drive one so relax. Lets stop debateing nothing!

It looks like Ford's marketing plan is working to perfection, by saying nothing, it keeps everyone else talking.

I have a uncle, that has a brother, that sister is messing around with a service writer for a lincoln dealership. He said his wife's nephew, that lives in Italy, x-gf's grandfather's, sister's cousin that works for the miller company which the manager has stocks in Ford claims that the new 5.4 is coming out with 365hp and 400ftlbs of torque.

Wow what words of wisdom.

If you don't need to know what the specs are, then turn off your computer, or at least don't log into this site. Leave the rest of us alone.

Some of us are at a stage where we need to replace our trucks. If I knew what Ford would offer (never mind a test drive) I would then wait for a 09. When I don't know, I make assuptions based on Fords track record. That in turn leads me to the competition...

I know the number to be 315 for the 5.4l v8.

There is NO 6.2l V8 until 2 years from now.

There is NO diesel option until 2 years from now.

Lastly, the 4.6l V8 has kinks to be still worked out. Won't know full specs until 1 more month.

The 2009 F-150 is a few months away. After the 2009 changes, the 2010 model will receive the new diesel and ecoboost engines. So in reality it is less than 2 years.

I think those long cold Manitoba winters have froze your brain...
YOU CAN'T BUY ONE TILL SEPTEMBER! Before you can actually even sit in one to test drive it let alone buy it there will be HP numbers available.
It could be 500hp your still not getting one before September so go buy a Dodge or Yota if you can't wait because the 5.4 is probobly going to be pretty much the same in 09 just married to a 6 speed tranny.
I would be waiting for 2010 anyways...

Your assesment of our weather may be accurate, but thats about it. You still miss the point. I wouldn't by one today if it was available. But if I knew the 6.2 was available even next Feb 09, Apirl 09 , even Jun 09, I'd wait for it. If I knew for certain nothing but the 5.4L 6 speed was available for next 18+ months, el then I will consider other options.

How the Leafs doin?

Better than the Winnipeg Jets are... At least I can go to a NHL or NBA or MLB or soon to be NFL game. Have fun with those Blue Bomber games and I think you should just go get that Dodge Ram now.

I knew I shouldn't have taken a shot at your leafs. You are too sensitive to have a sense of humour... Yes it sucks I have no where to go for major leauge sporting events.... Wait a minute I'm not THAT far from Minneapolis. In fact I took in the Twins game on Moday, and a wolves/pistons game on Tuesday. Not only that I have season tix to the Vikings. Oh and the Wild while not my favorite team, are in the playoffs. My favorite team (yes even when we had the jets) is the Oilers and while we too are not in the playoffs, at least I can rest at night knowing we've won 5 cup in the last 25 years... for now that will have to do.

Oh and I won't be buying a Ram anytime soon. So just go outside and take a deep breathe of your filthy air, then google the "sun" so you know what it looks like and let those of us on this forum that what to speculate on the future powertrain of the trucks do just that.

Was doing some browsing on the internet today about the 2009, hadn't done any in awhile since the dearth of info from Ford has made the 'new' truck less than exciting since the detroit show. From what I can gather, it appears that the Platinum edition will have glossy pillars! It also seems like in 2010 Ford is only doing a V6 ecoboost, and not a V8. If that is true, then there really is no reason to wait for a '10 over an '09, unless you really need the couple mpg savings it will offer. Otherwise it sounds like it'll only have like 300hp, so... I guess I would rather have the 5.4 V8 in '09 with a little better hp and the 1mpg savings than wait an entire year for a V6 ecoboost with only 300hp and just a couple more mpg savings.

Eh, more to ponder.
