Blah, blah, blah. They are ALL Fords and have similarities as ALL Fords do. But the new F-150 front end does not look anything like the Expedition other than maybe the rounded look. The new F-150 is flat yet rounded, or so I'm told. The internet experts have been telling us for months that it's going to have the Expedition front end. They even pasted the Expedition onto a F-150 saying that's all there is. Having the Expedition front end was arguable at best when the camo was on, but now that the camo is off that argument has been blown away. I can't say this enough, wait for more pics. You will not confuse the two.

Oye Vey....

No one EVER said it is the exact same sheet metal, curve for curve.

Simply put, the next gen F150 will look VERY similar to the current Expedition. It's really that simple.

Would there be a way to convert our "older" front ends to the new 09?

From some the obvious changes, Ford listened to current owners and incorporated many of the changes that people complained about and once they have the diesel or "Boss", I would be willing to bet most here will jump on the new truck. Also, the dash shown is probably a Lariat or better and has every option on it. A basic XLT or FX4 many be a cleaner look.

No matter what, after the initial bugs are out, the 09+ will be a better truck and still be the #1 selling truck.
It's a big cycle with new models. New truck comes out and people b1tch and moan, then get used to the design and end up buying them and loving them. i don't hear that many complaints about the new SDs anymore, but maybe people finally got tired of complaining. who knows.

as for the new f150, i'm not liking some things from what i see, but how can you pass judgement on a vehicle based on three grainy pics, only one of which shows the whole vehicle?

Given its basically a face lift for 09, I don’t see why not. I can’t imagine it would be cheap though. Basically all body panels forward of the doors would have to be swapped out. Then again, there may be subtle differences in mounting I suppose. I seriously doubt it though since Ford (most automakers in fact) wouldn’t want to re-tool too much for a simple face lift.

Okay, for all the broken records and optically impaired....The similarities FAR OUT WEIGH the differences. The simple fact is anyone with an ounce of foresight would have known what the next F150 front end would look like by simply looking at the current Expedition. I can draw a picture if need be.

Good night already.

Sheez, it's more different than you make it out to be. Before you were saying it's the same, now it's only similar. It's different. Have a nice evening.

Don't we have an entire FORUM dedicated to this topic? Rockpick ... time to move this thread?

https://www.f150online.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=105

If you actually read the article linked in the #1 post on this thread, you'll see they are under the impression that the grille takes (most of) its inspiration from the Ford Edge.

Oh brother, this is a stupid argument...

"All new sheet metal from the doors up but totally the same, oh yea, the doors would need replaced too, and the A-Pillar... the hood would need switched out as well, with new Bumpers, headlight assemblies, turn signals, and Emblem. With a slight Frame stretch, replacement mirrors, wheel wells, and all new trim with totally revised tooling.

But It's Exactly The SAME! You're Soo Stupid.."

Go Bucks!

RMS8, you're just wearing the skin off your fingertips. apparently the F-150 and Expy look nothing alike...despite the fact that the hood and fenders will interchange...and possibly the bumper and grill.

you can put them right next to each other and curtain the rest of the vehicle off. then remove their badging. to the average joe, they'll look identical.

I still say that the "edge" look is going to look nice. I'm not a fan of chrome, but that'll put a pretty fair bit of it up front

Looking at the expy and the 09 test mule f150 they have different front ends, hoods, bumpers, grilles, headlights, fenders, doors, and they look the same? You guys need to visit your vision specialist.

Tylus, I'm not saying that the Current F150 doesn't look like an Expedition, on the Contrary They DO (they're built on the Same platform). The current expedition does Not look like this test mule..

The 2008 Expedition is built on the same platform as the 2003! This isn't debateable, this is Fact.

http://www.edmunds.com/ford/expedition/review.html

People are speculating a NEW platform for 2009, hense the spy photo's, etc. You didn't see all these spy photo's and stuff when the 2005 revisions came out, Again NEW Platform...

I'm sure the NEW 2009 Expedition will be built on this NEW platform as well and will look Very different than the 2003 model (unlike what the 2008 Expy does today).

I realize in 2003, the Expedition DID come out before the 2004 F150 truck and WAS the same, but this year it looks like they're launching the truck first..
