These Trucks Are Garbage
Sorry to hear you had so many issues with yours. My truck an 05 with the 5.4 has been a very good truck so far. Only had a couple of issues one of the fuel injectors craped out but it was covered by FORD. The only other real issue I had was the drivers side power window regulater had to be replaced. The truck has 117k+ and counting on the clock. The only reason why I'm kind of considering on trading it in is my long comute to work and gas prices climbing high. But for now with a car payment and what it would use in gas on my comute would be about the same if I just keep the truck and how much it cost to fill it up. Right now plan to put 200k on it but things can change but as long as it gets me from point A to point B and back I'll keep it a good while yet.
OP,
If you think that a blanket statement like "these trucks are garbage" holds any logic when hundreds of thousands of them are on the road and have been trouble free for hundreds of thousands of miles, then you, sir, are crippled to high for crutches.
You didn't mention how many miles are on the truck. I had a 2005 that had 180K on the clock when I traded it, and it never gave me a second's trouble. Looked, ran, and rode like new until the day I traded it.
Are you unaware that, from time to time, "lemons" get into the marketplace? Instead of insinuating that we who have had great experiences with our trucks are "in denial" that they are actually "garbage", why don't you face the possibility that YOU are in denial of the fact that you just got a bad one. Unfortunately, it happens.
I noticed that your future mods list included a Volant WAI, but it did NOT include a proper tuning device with custom tunes for said. Makes me wonder just how much you know about these vehicles and the intricacies of modern PCMs, sensors, tuning, etc. Looks like you'd be better served with that '87 Ramcharger you mentioned.
Right about now, you're probably thinking that this response was unwarranted. So, I'll put it into perspective for you: You come to a Ford truck site not to seek help or advice about the issues you're having. Instead, you make a blanket statement that "these trucks are garbage" and proceed to insinuate that we're in denial if we feel differently.
What did you REALLY expect here?
I say, "Good riddance" to you, sir. Go buy a Titan or something.

Edit: You say this has been going on for two months and that you've been getting less than 10 mpg. Just about a month ago, you posted: https://www.f150online.com/forums/4939280-post4.html ...... Which is it?

I have 136K troublesome miles on my 05...
Just filled up this am...10.1 mpg's. I know that I have a bad Catalytic converter, but I can't afford to have it fixed...
I have said it before...When this truck is 100% it rides like a Caddy, and is very comfortable...but I have had enough problems with this truck to sour me on another Ford (this my second F150). And I am stuck with this one for a little while longer...

I really love my '07 F-150 and think it's the best truck currently on the market. That said, nothing made today is the quality it used to be. I don't think Ford could even build the same truck they used to just because THEIR suppliers are also building junk just like everyone else. NOTHING is built to last. People have forgotten what quality and pride in a product really is. It has gone away slowly over the years and no one noticed it quick enough to do anything about it.
I still have my '88 F150 so I have a direct comparison to quality. I think up to the mid 90s was the peak of quality and value. The '07 is a good truck, looks pretty (main selling point now days), rides good and quiet. Like the OP said, the rear bumper has rust, door panels rattle much more than my '88, the seat sqeaks, and on and on. My '88 has none of those issues and has gone through 100 times more hell and abuse as it was a real WORK truck. The OP's blanket statement was probably a little over blown because he has personally had so many problems with his truck (can happen with anything), but he is a long way from wrong.

I love my '07 FX4 ..... and I have a '77 F150 also. Every now and again someone finds a lemon maybe, but knock on wood .... but I've done pretty good with the 15-16 police cars and 18-20 personal vehicles and the various bikes I've had the pleasure of "having" since I started. I learned early on that you get out what you put in usually, so I try to take care of them.
The best in terms of what?! Hell, the 2008 F-150 can tow as much as the '79 F-250, lol. Apparently you are very nostalgic, but the ride/creature comforts of the modern trucks is worlds apart from the work-trucks of the 70/80's (and even early 90's). You are complaining about aluminum head/block engines? Yeah, I hate it when you use material that is lighter and diffuses heat quicker, that's exactly what people don't want in an engine!!
If you happen to like the styling of the 1970's trucks, then I can at least agree with you on that. I don't like it MORE than the current trucks, but if I was going to get a "classic" truck, it'd be a 78-79.
Also, your truck is UNDER WARRANTY if you're at 31K miles unless it's timed out. So have the issue fixed, or, if it's been in the shop multiple times for the same issue, invoke the "lemon laws" on them and force them to refund your money.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It sucks that his F-150 wasn't reliable. If the OP doesn't like Ford very much, that's fine with me. If the OP wants to buy a high-end car, more power to him... However, there is a certain irony because that high-end car is probably going to be an aluminum architecture/engine block with plastic bumper covers...

The best of luck to 08FX4SC
Hell I bought mine in March 2010 with 36k miles now almost 3 years later and 92000k+ miles my truck has been great, replacing common things like shocks, pads, did the brake conversion, and the only thing that I know I have to do its the spark plugs because she has some hicup when she goes to OD but it has served me well so this trucks are not crap they are great. To tell you a story in 2001 my grandpa bought a new Camry 0 miles , when the car hitted about 2200 the car when it was cold and he turned the car on the motor started to shake like when there is a msifire but when the car whent hot it was ok, the check engine came on and we took it to the dealer, the mechanicat the Toy dealer told us that the spark plugs went bad but i didnt buy his story but they replaced them and charged about 80 bucks for something that should be under warranty but my granpa paid them, to make it short two in two weeks the car started doing the same again and at the end they finished replacing the engine computer that was the problem. So we got a lemon but the car stills with my grandma since my granpa passed away in Ag 2010 and it has 120000+ miles on it
i hear ya, when i bought my 08 SuperCrew, took it home from teh dealer, 1st night started to have troubles, took it back to the dealer, and 10 days later got it back, the number 2 cylinder was cracked, so got a new long block, was kinda ticked off because the dealer sold it to me as a "Certified Used Truck"
I'm thinking about replacing my 2006 F150 with 191K on it. It's been such a good truck and has no issues so I feel like a dummy getting rid of it.
Last year I did replace it F350 Diesel Super Cab. I kept the 06 then and made it my personal truck. I dunno I think rather than pickup a new payment I'll just keep the 06. It has never let me down, ever.
Plus I like the body style and the interior. Maybe I should just look for a lower mileage one. Decisions, decisions.
