eh I tried that multiple times and they would just keep burning over. I guess maybe they were too worn.? Not sure.

I have 136K troublesome miles on my 05...

Just filled up this am...10.1 mpg's. I know that I have a bad Catalytic converter, but I can't afford to have it fixed...

I have said it before...When this truck is 100% it rides like a Caddy, and is very comfortable...but I have had enough problems with this truck to sour me on another Ford (this my second F150). And I am stuck with this one for a little while longer...

I see you live in Wisconsin. Could your gas mileage problem be due to winter blend gas? I have a 2005 with 60,000 miles and I went from 14 in the city to 11 now that they have switched the gas to steal more of our money!! I'm not sure if different blends of gas go from state to state depending on emissions standards ect but I'm amazed at the drop I'm mileage.

The best in terms of what?! Hell, the 2008 F-150 can tow as much as the '79 F-250, lol. Apparently you are very nostalgic, but the ride/creature comforts of the modern trucks is worlds apart from the work-trucks of the 70/80's (and even early 90's). You are complaining about aluminum head/block engines? Yeah, I hate it when you use material that is lighter and diffuses heat quicker, that's exactly what people don't want in an engine!!

If you happen to like the styling of the 1970's trucks, then I can at least agree with you on that. I don't like it MORE than the current trucks, but if I was going to get a "classic" truck, it'd be a 78-79.

Also, your truck is UNDER WARRANTY if you're at 31K miles unless it's timed out. So have the issue fixed, or, if it's been in the shop multiple times for the same issue, invoke the "lemon laws" on them and force them to refund your money.

Moon roofs aren't nearly as problematic these days as they were in the 90's. Once you've had the moon roof/power back glass, you'll never own a truck without it. Nothing like a nice cool breeze blowing on the back of your neck without any buffeting/wind noise. If the moon roof leaks, it's likely because one of the drains is plugged up. Get an air gun connected to just about any compressor and blow out the lines, problem solved.

Before buying a CAI I would talk with a performance shop like Troyer or VMP and get their advice.

I have 185k on my 04, now i have had some issues, dealer didn't replace all the cam phaser issues to the new design and had to get my cousin to redo all that work still only was about a grand, new plugs ran me about 200 bucks just put a new tranny in at 184k, but i don't baby my truck. I mean i keep it clean and keep up on the matenence but i use it like a truck, i pull horse trailers, my enclosed decoy trailer its used on the farm nearly everyday and its my everyday vehicle. All said other than regular matenence i have spent about 3k in getting things fixed. I bought it with 97k on it and have been pretty happy with it. I will be getting another 150 next time around. This one still rides like a champ and has all the power i need to do everything. Sounds like you got a lemon but sometimes it happens. thought at first i never would get stuff strait on mine but once i did couldn't be happier. My gas mileage too has been down to about 13, but thats with the winter blend we get here, summer time i can average about 17 or 18 not bad for a truck

Sorry you're having trouble but these trucks aren't garbage.
I've have nothing less than excellent service from mine.
My '04 had 155K on it when I unfortunately totaled it last year. The only part that failed on that truck was the alternator at around 150K. The camphasers were clattering but that didnt bother me because it ran fine.
My replacement '05 has 120K on it and I put 20k of that. So far so good on this one too.

Best trucks I've ever owned. Guess I've been lucky huh?

The #1 selling truck in America bud. They didn't accomplish that by selling garbage.

Go buy a Chevy.

How do you get 10mpg? I have a blower and don't even get 10mpg. Curious to hear what that might be. Only thing wrong with my 08 is the cheap *** "chrome" on the front grill is bubbling up other than that I have 45K with no issues. Stuff happens though man, any vehicle made in the 90's and up has so many working parts and electronics **** is bound to happen.

Here,Here! I'm with Ya. Mine has always been mechanically bone stock. I love my daily driver that way.
I save the mods for my weekend toys (Mustangs)

The rattle I hear is probably the timing chain slapping the front cover. Now I am getting less than 10mpg. I am a patient man, and I understand that anything mechanical will have failures every now and then, but this is unacceptable.

Even if the motor was good, I would still have issues. A truck that lists for over $40,000 new should not have welds with porosity on 30% of the frame. On a bumpy road the thing rides worse than the 87' Ramcharger I once owned. At least the body panels and doors on the Ramcharger didn't rattle. Go above 55mph and it sounds like something is going to fall off my F150. The moon roof leaks in the car wash, power windows work intermittently, my rear bumper is starting to rust out already, hard to get out of 4-wheel low, etc, etc, etc.

I had big plans for it: was going to get the bed sprayed with Linex next month, Magnaflow exhaust, Volant CAI, better tires. But now I’m just going to leave it stock. First $20,000 for my truck takes it. I’m buying a high end car. I’ll just rent the truck at Home Depot when I need to haul stuff or have it delivered. If I need to move I’ll just call Mayflower.

These trucks (GM, Ford, Dodge, Toyota) nowadays are built so cheaply it makes me sick. Aluminum heads and blocks, thin sheet metal on the body, plastic everything. I love when people order the Chrome Package. It’s just ABS plastic, and it looks so trashy.
You obviously dont deserve a nice truck like that, thats why its rejecting you.
