Great thanksgiving so far I think my fuel pump took a poop

I went to get my truck washed today at a laser car wash when I started loosing rpms then it stalls. It starts back up then stalls. I get it out of the car wash and it bucks repeatedly. It does this all the way home. I get out to listen to the fuel pump and I can hear it pumping twice and as its running I can hear it pumping. Of course I have a cel but no auto parts store is open on thanksgiving and I no one I know has a obd2.

It's more likely a corroded FPDM. That's a relatively cheap and easy repair.

I also am willing to bet its the FPDM sensor. Its located on the brace directly in front of your spare tire. Its not to often fuel pumps go out. But the FPDM goes out around 100K miles generally if you live in a rust prone climate. I think its around 100 bucks at the dealer and quick to change out.

You won't get any code at all. If it detects moisture or water it will just short out and quit.

I'll second this and virtually gurantee you that this is your problem. The fact that you just went through a car wash before it died is the icing on the cake. Instead of waiting to read the codes, how about just dropping the spare and looking up? If the FPDM is indeed corroded / cooked, it will be pretty obvious.

I just replaced mine not too long ago. I got it from Rock Auto and IIRC it was around $60 for the new one.

I had a similar issue today but no cr wash involved . Having said that I live on the Mtn. in Harpers Ferry. Going down the road today after refueling and it acted like u turned the key on and off, began studdering badly, ck engine light came on and engine died. Sat for afew, tried to restart it and it stumbled abit and died again. replace fuel filter on side of road with nothing changing. Would the FDPM just go out like this. Waitng for help for a few hrs on roadside and after it sat awhile it would crank and stumbled off to die again. if you try to restart ot right after it wont even try. let it sit another hour and repeated the same symptons again?
