Coolant leak

Hey all! I have a 2001 Ford f150 with the 4.6 in it. I was driving down the road and heard a loud POP and started smelling coolant burning. After I pulled over, do to over heating, I noticed a missing hose on the passenger side near the firewall and next to the rear spark plug. Problem is I can not find the connecting hose nor any other places where a hose would connect. I also can not find the part nor the specific name of the missing part. Any help would be a great.

Sounds like you're describing one of the heater hoses.

Yes it is located behind the manifold next to the last spark plug on the passenger side. I check everywhere and can not find a location where a hose would connect to this coolant port.

can you get a better picture of it? I think I know what it is, or where that is, but it looks odd in that picture

Ok, so the online pics I found look like that is plugged off. Where is the hose you think is connected there?

Not sure if the 4.6 uses the hard line under the manifold, but if it does, check those 2 lines coming from the firewall just above that area. Trace the lines back.

It doesn't help. Your picture is way too blurry. Where is the hose?

There is no hose - I believe that's a port that should be capped off.

Maybe you had the cap on there like Jimbo's link?
Maybe you've already done this? Put a cap on the nipple. If there is another hose end it may be easier to find the other end by pressure testing.

EDIT: I did not re-read the post earlier, and see I am a day late to GLC post. Thank you.
