Body Lift?

Hey guys, I have a 2005 F150 flareside. I was thinking of going with a body lift on it to fit some bigger tires and then a suspension lift later on. My concern is that I have the 4wd on the floor. (not the electronic switch) Will a body lift work with this? I was just wondering if there is some special piece that you need for it or something or if it will not fit all together?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

so its a mechanical thing? not a switch? have you looked around underneath it to see where it all connects?

I think it is mechanical. Unless they just want to give you the feeling of a mechanical transfer case but have it hooked up to some sort of a switch. I have not looked underneath yet. Its a bit snowy out right now and I haven't had time to get it in the local shop yet.

Most of the body lifts Ive come across with, you need to purchase the shifter extension separately. They are only a couple of bucks but you will need them if you want to use 4x4/shift gears on a manual trans

I just don't like cutting into the stock stuff. I think i'll just have to save up for a suspension lift. Thanks for the info.

Alot of suspension lifts require cutting of the frame and/or suspension.

I dont see why they are a joke. If your looking for a better approach angles and to clear a larger tire for a fraction of the price why not. A truck with a 6 inch lift with 35s has the same diff clearance as a body lifted truck with 35's

Well. let's see. Relocated bumpers suck. I hope you never want a brush gaurd because it won't align. And God forbid you hit anything. Tow receivers will hang below the rear bumper. Gaps between the body and frame that weren't there before. The above mentioned of cutting parts you don't have to when you do a real lift. And just the fact that you now have pieces of plastic sitting between your body and frame.

Yes, you do some cutting when you do a suspension lift, but what you cut out is replaced, not welded and extended.

Body lifts are for people who want to have a lifted truck but don't want to pay for it. Period.
