I've got both. The double deep trans pan should be used with a good fluid to see best results. The magnetic dipstick and drain plugs are both great features. Would I do it again, yes!

I'm gonna grab one of those trans pans shortly. My buddy has one and says it greatly reduced temps on long trips, something my truck really needs.

I never saw the need for the trans pan, and if I got one it would purely be for the drain plug. I have heard they do wonders if you tow all the time. However, I have been on several long trips in recent years and never saw my trans temps peak over 168, even in the summer, so I just don't see the need. Right now in winter they are in the 150's normally.

I do have a diff. cover and love it, especially with a big lift and 4.88 gears I wanted that extra fluid and the ability to change it quickly. In 3 years of service I have had zero issues with it and have changed the diff fluid 3 times since installing it, each taking less than 15 minutes. Plus it looks really good!

You can't go wrong with Mag-Hytech's stuff its top notch

FX4Life, how much fluid do they require? I just ordered one and want to go ahead and order the fluid for it.

With the mag hytec pans is anyone using the provision for the temp sending unit. I was told its on the back of the pan where the cross member is. I have only an inch between the pan and the crossmember. I have a 05 F150 4x4 with the 5.4. Seems like to me there wouldnt be enough clearance.

The transmission has a test port on the drivers side that you can put a temp sender in. You don't have to use the one on the pan

I have both the trans pan and diff cover, and a temperature sending unit on both. Autometer sending unit, 1/4 inch FIP threaded if I recall correctly. Clearance is not an issue.

I just went out to truck and took a quick look. I do see what you are talking about with the clearance on the backside of trans pan, it is extremely close to the close member. However.....the sending unit unit mounts on the front on the pan not the rear.

Here is a pic of each:

The pictures are rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Front of vehicle is towards the bottom of each picture.

Thanks for the info and the picks. I actually talked to someone at mag-hytec and they told me it was in the back. Apparently they have no idea which end I'd the back even after describing the pan to them.

The 4R70W-DD from Mag-Hytec uses this filter part number:

http://mag-hytec.com/store/index.php...products_id=63

I bought my 4R70W-DD trans pan direct from them and it included the correct filter for that pan.
