Just installed 2.5 " leveling kit , what about alignment??

Morning,
Just installed a 2.5" HBS leveling kit in my 04 f150 Scab and put 285/70/17 Cooper At3's..

My question is how soon should I get an alignment in it?

Hi.

Say what? Premature wear due to added stress from the geometry changes? Hardly - it's all over this board - just need to fire up Search and look.

There is also the obligatory 'sticky' to read - that's the purpose of them in the first place: https://www.f150online.com/forums/su...tions-etc.html

Or - the fact that an alignment is required ASAP? That's just common sense - again, you've change d the geometry - if you value your tires, and vehicle control .... it needs to be corrected.

OR - are you simply referring to the "Hi" ?

Good luck!

Anything that alters suspension, requires an immediate alignment. Ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, everything.

As they said, get it aligned ASAP, especially since you just got new tires. It doesn't take long for a bad alignment to eat through a set of tires.

Yes, get an alignment. 2 years ago I replaced the entire front and rear end on a Subaru, and I told them they need to get a computerized alignment and to only drive it to the place to get it done.

Well, to make a long story short, they didn't, and it wound up eating thru a set of 4 tires in less than 250 miles.

^why would you not learn after 50 miles when the tires look horrible? How stupid do you have to be to let it eat up even one set of tires that quickly? That's legendary stupidity right there

If you don't want to drive it, call AAA or your insurance company if you've got towing. I've used my insurance company's towing package to tow around my 2500 when I wasn't able to legally drive it. My agent told me to use it as much as I'd like. I think I used it about 15 times that year.

Because when you are asking friends to do lots of auto work, and times are tough for them, sometimes people don't make logical decisions or take one's word.

Sad thing was, my buddy who works at the shop I told them to go to, was going to surprise them and give it to them for 1/2 off. I think it would've been like $45 for a $85 alignment. Instead they not only needed an alignment, but also new tires.

I guess they live and learn...

I read that wrong, I thought you said 4 sets of tires! What they actually did isn't that bad.
