It will be my first retro and I dont fell like screwing up OEM headlights. this project will take a while. There only 110bux, plus the projector will look better with that CCFL too!

or maybe I'll order some OEMs off ebay. but that'll probally cost the same.

I have a question about the light pattern cut-offs. Are the cut-offs determined by the projector? Are they adjustable? I ask because in this pdf they are lower on the right hand side. I assume this is because the author is in England and on coming traffic is on the right hand side? If so, does this mean there are "US" projectors that have the cut-offs lower on the left hand side? Or is this something that is adjustable on projectors? Hope this made sense.

Two more questions. I was going to upgrade my rectangular fog lights to either 9005 hi-beam bulbs or HID ones.

1. If I go HID, do I get a 9145 or 9005 HID kit? I want the most light.

2. Will glare or blinding of on coming traffic be an issue with the HID fogs?

I have terrible night vision and am looking for the best lighting I can get WITHOUT blinding on coming traffic.

Thanks!

The projectors you would buy would be US-spec, so the cutoff is lower on the left side. You *can* modify the cutoff, but that involves messing with the projector, which is not something I'd want to do. The projectors I would recommend from my reading is the FX-R's, as they will fit with no modifications to the projector itself, just cut the factory housing and bolt/seal in.

While HID fogs won't likely blind anyone, you won't get a world of difference in visibility other than the 10 feet in front of the truck. The beam pattern for fogs scatters light to the sides, so it won't give much help seeing things far enough out in front of the truck to help you avoid it. I think they are a good addition if you already have HID's in the headlights.

Lastly, if you go HID, you will just get whatever bulbs fit the projectors you are using.

Thanks Sooner, exactly what I needed to know! Now just need to decide on what heads to use

If I understand this, when it comes to fogs HID isn't likely to give me more overall visibility than just going with 9005?

Thanks again!

If you want the most light out of your fogs, then get a bulb that will fit (such as a 9005), but get 4000k color temperature. That is the brightest bulb on the market today. Going higher in color (6000k, 8000k, and so on) will add a blue tint, reducing the white slightly, thus making it less brilliant. Going lower in color (3000k, 2000k) will add a slight yellow tint to the color, making it less brilliant than white. It won't make a huge difference, but it does help in my opinion. And it shouldn't blind oncoming traffic because like Sooner said, the light is dispersed horisontally, and less vertically. However, fog lights (like high beams) do not have a vertical limit plate like a 9006 bulb or a dual-beam bulb. All I would suggest is lower the fogs if needed. If they are at stock height, I wouldn't raise them very far (or at all even).

I will post pics once im done with it.

They will look like my cbr then since its the same brand for the most part.

Well you guys got me busy, lol. I'm going to research solenoid controlled dual-beam projectors (probably 2.5" as cheap as I can find), HID bulbs that will fit (inexpensive yet good quality), and a pair of single-reflector headlamps with the projector lens (just so I still have something left over from the retro fit). Hopefully I'll have the money in a few days to buy what I need, then I'll get started. I'll take pictures, make videos, and try to do a write up on something I've never done before, hehe.

The guy that did my cbr buys them from the factory. So im going back to him to buy my kit.

The guy i do business with - this is his website. Im not sure how much he would charge you for the kit but its worth a try. http://sickhids.com/

He has the best service and communication then anyone i have ever dealt with. Even if his kit was 400 i would still go with him because of the service i get.

Not sure wht the difference is between what your asking me- retro kit or projectors kit. The kit comes with everything to do the project- all you have to do is mount the projector to your current housing and wire up the lights.

thanks for the link....these are the projectors I saw on ebay.....but it says the $499. Are you getting hooked up? Looks like it might be a clean fit, and that flexible audi light strip looks alot better than others I've seen. Bookmarked the website and will wait your results before I jump on the wagon.

Just a question, by chance do the lincoln navigator headlights fit our trucks? I parked next to one and was thinking that could be a way to go. they looked like they would work, and they already come with the appropriate housings for HID

Not certain but it doesn't look like the 2007+ Navigator with projectors will fit:

04-08 F-150

07+ Navigator

06 Navigator
