Damn smokey those are nice. Might give me reason to put my HID bulbs back in. Care to tell us where you got those?

I bet Smokey's are a custom retro-fit which costs a lot of money to have done. There are some expensive parts you must get to have it properly done. But results are usually amazing.

I did get em from ebay. They were $125 or so. The cut off is not the best but it will do. I have to say the cut off on the fogs though are FANTASTIC I'll get a pic up next week but they go like this_/--- to keep glare off oncoming vehicles.

The headlights that smokey has are not projectors, that is just a lens in front of the bulb. they are a nice headlight, I am going to order those same ones they have a large CCFL around the light that is the best I've seen. But with that said they are not projectors so a retrofit will have to be done, here are the sites I've been told I will need to do a proper retro. All my research has been done though HIDplanet so its pretty reliable.

the retrofit source .com

Search around there for the FX-R projectors, they are great. Also since you have an f150 I assume you have 9007 bulbs, so pick up a 9007 bixenon harness. Since you have 9007, when you flip the high beams on the lows will shut off. This projector is just one bulb that is powered by the low circuit. So without it if you flipped your high beams, your lows would turn off, thus losing all your light. The harness doesnt allow the lows to turn off, it keeps them powered and sends the high beam power to the solenoid to move the shield giving you high beams. You will need that harness.

Here Ill link you to all that you should need. You can get some d2s bulbs here in the FS section, you can always find someone selling them. You can get ballasts here, but if you are really crunched for money, just go on ebay and search for replacement ballasts. Im probably going to get flamed to hell and back, but my *cheap ebay kit ballasts* have gone 2 years in hot summers and freezing cold winters with not one issue. Shame on you Plus they are cheap enough to where it really doesnt matter if they break. You can get a set for like 30. Here is what you need:

Oh yeah, they're on ebay for $110

Those are nice-looking heads. I could do without the CCFL personally, but the housing looks clean and not as busy as others I've seen with a quad look or LED's that don't seem to belong. If the light output is halfway decent, I'd say that's a nice upgrade for anyone that doesn't want to drop the cash on a projector retrofit.

I looked at those ones that are OEM, the set I found were actual projectors. The light came from behind the projector lense and did not diffuse to the reflector at any moment before the projector. I got the ones I got mainly because I like the angel eye rings, but also the stock looking ones just had all that excess chrome in the reflector that were just there for looks when they should have been there for functionality. I know I sound crazy in my opinion, lol, but that's just how I feel about them.

Crappy pic but...

These are very well constructed as far as aftermarket goes (still leak but have vents to quickly dry themselves out) and they outperform OEM's in quantity and quality of light output. White led strip is very bright also but not sure if I like them or not...

My first set of projectors (in my sig) sucked. They leaked, had weak wiring issues, the plastic distorted in front of where the projectors were and didnt light the road as well as the OEM's did but I kept them on my truck nearly 4 years looking for something better.

OK - now I'm really confused! I like the heads that Smokey and bankrpt have. But if they're not projectors (the ebay site says they are?) can I buy those AND install a HID kit into them?

those are not true projectors, its just a lens. they're full of it. here's a real projector. To answer your question yes you can install a HID kit in there, your just not going to get the projector effect.
Heres what a projector is:

The link is asking for a user name and password.

Anyone taken apart the headlights shown bellow and used the reflector in their factory heads?

They have a kit on that hidplanet site which sells for $300 or so. It includes the projectors, bulbs, ballasts/wiring, and bezels to retrofit the F150 (or most any bixenon reflector headlight). If I thought I could get the factory housings apart without breaking the plastic, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
