BTW Alomar, it sounds like AZ sticks it in you pretty bad too, huh ?

Dark Knight, well you got me beat (barely) but your from Cali too... so....

Oh hey, eductate my dum-bass on something here.... You said only the "vehicle license fee" is going to double. Okay, so how much of my $455 bill is the VLF, and how much is the registration ?

Fish

BTW Atom uhhh.... don't you think that might be just a bit of an over-simplification ? I mean, I don't like commercials either, but that doesn't mean I'm going to quit watching TV :-)
Chris- It should break that down for you on your renewal. It sucks because they tax you for one thing and then actually use it for whatever they want to. Remember when they were using the gas tax for something completely different than roads. The retards in Sack-o-tomatoes (Sacramento) never saw a tax they didn't fall in love with. Every time some politician thinks of a new tax with a name so obscure even they don't know what it means, the whole bunch of 'em get wood over it!

I have a system. I buy a plate for my 1978 pickup costs me $35 good for the entire year wait a day go back to dmv transfer it to my 2007 scsew for $8.00.Total cost $43.00 instead of $210.00.While I'm at dmv transferring plate I buy another plate for the 1978 pickup.I end up with two plates for $78.00.

I'm just curious if anybody, anywhere else in the country, for ANY other F150 (I don't even care if it's an HD or a Limited Edition) has paid a higher registration bill than I just recieved ?
Drumroll please..... $455 !!!

I remember in Louisiana, back in like 95' the registration was a flat rate of like $10 > every other year.... and it didn't matter if you owned a freaking Ferrari ! (granted, that was the lamest place I've ever spent 3 years of my life.... but cheap registration, anyway)

Oh well. I guess this is part of the price I pay, for the best big bass fishing on the whole planet. No snow and ice in the Winter. The greatest cultural diversity (which is great, for a whacko like me, to fit right in ;-)

Anyway, I just had an idea..... When I send them the check, I'm going to ask them if they will at least provide the KY jelly, for a screwing like this ?

Fish
$72.50 including the $10.00 addition from the county to cover the road bonds we passed a few years ago, and the $3.00 electronic service (online) fee.

Now as for you not enjoying Louisiana... You ever heard of Bourbon street? Biggest party in the country year round... Lot's of places to go 4 wheelin', good fishing and plenty of southern ladies...

Yea, i can see that. That's like you complaining you gotta pay a premium for stuff in hawaii, why, you live in hawaii. it comes with the territory, you get over it, don't buy it, or move.
society just pisses and moans about stuff, buy a old beater, cheaper registration then. like i said before, i gotta pay a gas tax on every gallon of gas, imagine if you buy oodles of gas like i do, it's no set rate, do i cry about it, no, does it suck, sorta. am i gonna make a post and cry about it, absolutely not.

Yep, I'm willing to pay that amount if that is what I have to do to enjoy my way of life. I know CA has some crappy laws, but they are offset with a better night-life, outdoor life and natural scenery (of any eco-type available on Earth) than any other state in the Union.

1 year registration in Florida costs my F150 just over 53.00 bucks. That is just a ridiculous amount for a registration. How many years is it for?

Hey Fish Chris... i do not know if you already know, but in cali a pickup with a open bed is considered a comercial viechle. Thats part of the reason for higher fees. If you put a shell on it the truck is no longer comercial. And fees drop.

WOW! That is one of the most stupid thinks I've ever heard of. Do they also consider a Subaru Baja to be a commercial vehicle, or how about an older bronco that someone took the roof off of?

In 2005, I paid 528 bucks in Loveland (Larimer Co.) for registration/tags for the truck. This past year I paid around 310 bucks, so it does go down with age. A guy I work with paid the high price twice because he bought a 2008 model in 2007. That really sucked.

In CO, your vehicle is considered property (and is taxed). The flip side is really low real estate property taxes. The same sized house/acreage back in OH (were I grew up) would cost quite a bit more per year in taxes, but OH has decent registration fees on vehicles (no considered personal property). Six of one or half dozen of the other...about the same in the end.
