People are allowed to bit&h and moan about things like this, when myself and Fish Chris are paying over $400 a year for reg. and other states pay $10. And its NOT as easy as just "get over it or move" because moving.....costs money. Gasp, I know hard concept to gather, but it does. Plus what you save in reg. cost, they get you else where (like the gas tax). So there fore we can bit&h and moan (like the majority of America, IE political subjects especially) since that is our given right by the constitution (might wanna read it). Or you sir, can move and be free from our complaining.

Or wake up on the other side of the bed when your more cheerful and want to converse with the rest of the world in a dignified manner.

you can afford the truck and pay for it, but you bitch about registering it, does not that sound silly. sure i will agree with you that it's a load of crap and laws should be states wide not this state by state crap. eitherway, we will all have are opinions on the issue. and no matter how much we **** and moan, it's not gonna change it. that's just like the lift laws vary state by state, it sucks! they should all have to comply with Texas

You're damn right I am going to complain!!!! I moved here because the wife and I finally found jobs close together. It's the front range of CO, which is about as tax happy as any other place. I love what I do, so don't give me that "why don't you move" crap. Sure, I paid the damn 8.2% sales tax when I bought it plus the 528 to register it. I could afford it, sure, but paying out the a$$ just to have someone issue a plate and a piece of paper so I can drive it around? The very principle of what it buys you is just absolutely rediculous. I work very hard for what I earn (so do many others), so why should I just "roll over" and let them take it all? In the end, we all pay our taxes, so why don't they properly balance the state budget to cover registering all our vehicles? I will never understand why people just dismiss things like this as "that's the way it is". The PRIMARY difference here is that I pay plenty of taxes to my state, but I don't pay a tax to the private sector as in Ford just to have their truck. IMO, the state does not need to stick it to ya with every single fee, including income, real estate, sales, liquor, gas, and soon to be trade-n-cap carbon taxes.

And by the way, you can change things if you elect public officials that share your way of thinking. I cannot believe that anyone would support a federal regulation of such a thing. Taking power away from states and placing it in federal hands is just another baby step toward socialism. No, thanks.

One final thing. You think that this site is going downhill? Frankly, it's the responses like yours that decrease the quality. If you don't have something decent and constructive to say, then don't post. All you really do is discourage others from posting out of fear of being answered with smart-a$$ed comments. If you have an opinion, and you certainly do, you can post it in a non-provoking way, right?

Same can be said in respect to your complaint about members "crying" about their registration.

I'm not your Dad and not trying to lecture you. I just think that some people should be more careful of how they express themselves behind a keyboard on a public forum. You have stated your opinion in favor of just giving up and paying up, so that's fine with me. As for me, I'm am in favor of fighting for my hard earned dough. So, in the quest for less taxes and more money for my children, I will NEVER give up. Too many people have become complacent at the voting booth IMO and allowing too many bad ideas to spring from congress on a federal and state level. Of course, this all may not matter if the Fed bankrupts all of us.

I would like to also say that these comments were not meant to anger anyone. At this point, I may get a tap on the shoulder from the moderators. That's fine, I just wanted to express my opinion about some of the frustrating comments I read sometimes.

Now, let's all tune back to our regulary scheduled topic on registration fees.

Fair enough. We do have to pay a fee to register our cars, but they already take a gas tax which is designed to repair/build roads. So yes, I like driving on the paved roads that my gas tax pays for...so what is that 528 bucks that I paid going towards? Does anyone know? My guess is that not even the state treasurer knows the answer to that question. I just feel that it's time to makes taxes make sense again in the country. It started off as "taxation without representation" and has become "taxation for the hell of it because we cannot make sense of the budget". In a country that now wants free healthcare, don't you think they could give away free registrations? BTW, that was a joke.
