That's completely ridiculous. The injector problem on 2005 5.4's is a known issue.

IMO that's a load of horse crap! they know of the issue, they are just looking to pawn the cost onto you. i'm sure you know that warranty works pays less than normal, if it was my truck, i'd go down there with a hauler, take me truck, and tell someone to get screwed! edge is not the issue here, typical dealer looking to screw ya.

I had this same problem on my 06. First time it was just 1 bad injector and they replaced it and the catalytic converter. Second time, I had 3 injectors go bad.

I know I know... Y'all don't have to tell me twice it's bs. I have been on the phone all morning with no luck. Everyone keeps telling me that bc the trucks computer shows there was a programmer st one time that ford will reject it as warranty work.

The cost is ridiculous too.. The labor rate is 98 bucks an hour and each injector is 52 bucks. The service guy estimated about 5 hours of work

Hmm, well that really blows donkey *****. Sorry bro.

Is there not a way to clear the computer so it won't show that an aftermarket programmer was hooked up? Doesn't Snap-On or another manufacturer have a scanner that can completely clear everything in the PCM?

Did you buy the truck new?

I'm curious because I bought my 06 used and it is still under warranty until Sept of this year. If something were to go wrong and they refused to warranty because of the tuner I wonder if I could tell them I bought the truck used and I've never had a tuner on it. If I bought it used how can they prove it was me that had the tuner on it?

They claim to have tried to clear it... I'm not sure what else I can do other than bitch about it when I pick it up. I mean this is a know faulty part from the factory so the edge shouldn't mean a thing right??

Shouldn't. It's a well known problem with the 05's, they should take it up the *** and fix it.

I would like an explanation how a tuner could cause a fuel injector to fail.

Guys I have been on the phone with a warranty guy in Michigan, ford people in Dallas, my damn dealer and a relative who works for ford finance. I'm not getting anywhere at all. The claim is the tuner modifies the computer from stock therefor voids this warranty for the injectors. Stupid I know. I have wanted to know how the edge is an issue when this is an issue from the factory. One guy even said it was a recall type deal but was still my problem bc of the edge. In short I'm getting f$&ked by ford today and there is no way around it at this time. I'm about to call the owner of the dealership personally to give him my gripe...

I agree with the notion that the tuner probably did not cause this. The following may not be popular but I have to say if I were in Fords (or any manufacturers shoes) I wouldn't warranty a vehicle that had tunes either. The tuner completely replaces all info sent to the vehicles brain. So the vehicle is no longer operating as engineered. Sucks, BIG time. Hell, I don't even think Edge will cover costs of repairs if it screws something up. There's just too many variables within the tuner that someone could adjust customizing when they don't know what they're doing.

If you bought the truck used, if it were me, I'd be telling them I've never had a tuner on the truck in the time I've owned it.

Man, that still makes no sense. I wonder what Edge will say?
