Mods in my sig.

Just got done with a full engine replacement on Ford's dime, Except rental car. Was in the shop exactly 21 days. Truck was returned to stock and programmer had been removed. 87 performance tune.

Cause was some sort of bad gasket or seal (i'm not a mechanic so I can't explain it better) Caused the engine to burn oil, caused the oil pan to sludge, caused the oil pump to fail and the engine to "eat itself" (Dealerships words) Engine was a complete loss.

there is fair charging...and then there is gouging. I have no problem paying a fair rate for work associated. but methinks this is a case of gouging...which is probably why FX4lifes total bill was cut almost in 1/2 eventually

and I would agree with you 100%

I highly doubt my bill was cut due to the fact I would spread the word about them being a good dealer to deal with. I know for a fact there are some very crooked guys in the sales dept and upper management of the place. I should have guessed it would spill over to every other area of the joint.

The new service manager is a crock, and a complete idiot. In short I'm never going back to them for anything. I'm going to look into fixing things myself now before i take it anywhere...

Second is in regards to programmer "footprinting". Using the exact same tools the dealerships use, there doesn't appear to be evidence of anything that specifically identifies that a "programmer" has been present on a vehicle, at least on the F150. Mode 6 Freeze Frame data does get cleared during a programming session and I am currently validating what other situations (disconnected battery, etc) will clear Mode 6 data.

It is my understanding that the dealerships do use Mode 6 data along with the ubiquitous P1000 DTC as evidence of programmer presence to be used as grounds for warranty denial. However, if there is a reasonable argument that these conditions can exist outside of the use of a programmer then the dealership cannot deny a warranty out of hand.
Hopefully Bill still reads this site. I know he's a very busy man. But I'm curious if he ever confirmed disconnecting the battery will clear Mode 6 data.

Also, I set my truck back to stock to check for codes and it came up with the P1000 code.
