They could at least give you the injectors for free, they know they are junk to begin with. I can see paying for the labor for whatever they claimed to happen from the edge. I was told if the tuner was removed and set back to stock they could not tell if it was ever programmed/chip, weird.

i bet edge will say that faulty injectors caused the issue.

They can tell as soon as they hook up to the OBD2 port. I confirmed this myself with the service manager at my dealer, and it does indeed void your warranty.

i guess if your dealer sucks it's an issue. what i do find funny, is that if you spend 40-75 grand on a conversion truck that has been chipped/programmed it's covered, another screwing for the guy who want's to build a truck.

Mine had Troyer tunes before it f*cked up. I programmed it back to stock and they didnt say anything. I sold the tunes after that. All i could figure is the tuner tells the pcm to dump more fuel for more power. I really think its a dealership issue. Just like they wouldnt give me a rental car while mine was being repaired.

My dealer is actually very good. He told me, as long as something as serious as a rod going through the block doesn't happen, and they don't have to call in a Ford rep (like they have to do on serious/expensive claim approvals) they could usually get around it without Ford knowing.
Other than that, the Ford rep wants to see everything up front, including PCM diagnostics in which case it's out of the dealers hands.

What happened to your truck?

FX4Life, I assume you put your truck back to stock and you removed the programmer before taking it in?

So how can they prove you're the one who had the programmer on it if you bought it used?

I'm going to guess that the software the dealership uses also indicates a time when the PCM was changed?

Sorry to hear about this Matt, that totally sucks.

I too am one of the lucky recipients of the infamous "Injector Letter". Wouldn't it be best to replace this crap as preventive maintenance if we all know we stand a chance of injector failure? I think I'm going to go get an estimate, R&R plugs and injectors.

I did put it all back to stock before taking it in, removed the edge after putting it back to stock and put the stock intake back in.

I plan on replacing all the other injectors they don't and the plugs when I get it back. It's actually already done.

They knew in the PCM history I had the edge too

I know they are really strict on programmers and the new diesel engines and transmissions...

Naw, the tuner didn't cause the injectors to fail.

The guy doing the work, if he's good at what he does, and if he's lucky, probably sees 20-25% of that.
