No joke..
It's apples to oranges when they (the ricer community) don't want to hear it, but streetable HP is streetable HP, regardless of how you attained it.
Now, if someone wants to one someone up by backing their full race vehicle off the trailer or waste $300 so they can cruise around on 118 on a Friday night, then that's definitely apples to oranges....two "street cars" running pump gas is pretty much apples to apples.
And to show that I am humble to the ricer crowd, I've sat in and driven 1000+ HP, 100% streetable Supra's (yes FreakyFX4, I said 1000+HP AND streetable in the same sentence). AC, PWR everything, cruise, ah, so nice. None of those amenities in my stang unfortunately.
My point is: the OP is either completely full of it, or this near-500HP civic is HARDLY a street car and definitely more that $10K in mods.

What's the diff? I mean, if you're talking just the surface diff's, then yeah, it's a 4cylinder compared to an 8. That's apples to oranges. A 1000+HP Supra is on 6. Very impressive. All while maintaining it's street manners too!
That motor has a price tag hovering near $25000-30000 or more! It was sleeved and running up to 30PSI. To have ANY motor withstand those sorts of pressures requires serious parts; hence the sleeved race block.
Fun vid none the less though.
You make yourself look pretty stupid with statements like that. You obviously are not into the compact performance scene, and you seem to know nothing about the SRT-4.
If you classify something rice because of a wing and a turbo, you are sad. Also research what exactly rice is, and also note the Neon is a Domestic.

btw, you don't have to have a "foreign" car to be a ricer. I've seen Saturns, Pontiacs, Dodges all do their best to qualify. The term ricer started that way, but it's more of a overall moniker nowadays.
1. SRT4 = Neon with Body package and Turbo and better transmission (I believe). there is more, but that is the essentials
2. Ricer cars depend on outrageous boost to get real HP. They are FWD (mostly) and have ridiculous wings that serve no purpose. Neon has all of above
3. Most SRT4 (and other ricer cars) are insecure little boys who insist on proving their Testicular might to everybody. There are the mature ones, but they are few and far between.
You are right, I dislike Ricer vehicles. Not on the basis of what they are, but because of the people who drive them. And I personally have a strict no I-4 rule for my own vehicles. I just got rid of a Mustang GT that was "weak" in terms of American HP compared to Camaro or Challenger w/ Hemi. It however could still smoke the tires in 1st, 2nd and chirp 3rd gear with 275 width Ultra High Performance Tires (KDW's and Kumhos). Similar cars run low 13's and stock ones high 13's to low 14's. Never got to time trial mine.

I am no stranger to powerful cars, and I will not knock the SRT4 in terms of potential, especially the Stage 3. But, about the only Rice car you'll truly get me to respect though is going to be those that were purpose built for performance. Not some slapped together little fart can running a turbo and a bumble bee exhaust. I'm talking things like a GTR, Skyline, Supra, 3000 GT (aren't all those V-6's also? except 3000 GT?)

The f-150 is good at many many things, but drag racing is not one of them...
I'm with you. the f-150 isn't bad when you mash the loud pedal, but there's no way a stock 150 is taking out a turbo integra....or a stock integra for that matter. I've been blasting around in my buddy's wrx all weekend, and there is no way in hell that my truck could touch it.

Not at all. I in no means said that there was anything false about your claims. I was just asking if since I had 52 in my ride if everything I say is true
well it doesnt work that way, and 10k in a truck doesnt really mean anything, but i see what u mean, and its coo a mean i dont need anyone to believe me.. if someone were to tell me this, i would probably call bs also
Well, i stand slightly corrected. 400 isn't 487, but still, 400hp from ANY 4 cylinder is pretty damn good. I think it's pretty obvious by my prior posts that 4 cylinder hotrods are not really my thing, but they are for some.
400hp in a 2400lb car has got to be pretty peppy, even if it only has 275ft-lbs. I don't know how well I'd feel about revving that bastrd to 8200rpm, but if the motor was built for it, it should be no problem. Judging from that curve, looks like it would have made more HP if you wanted to keep revving it higher....
I'll just add my $.02 on the SRT-4 Neons. They are QUICK....no naturaly inspirated F150 could hang with this car...period. Yes they are definatley ricer cars and they are mopar but you got gotta give credit where credit is due. He put the stage 1 kit in there along with some other mods like intake and blow-off valve, exhaust etc. and that thing would throw you back in your seat!
Now hes got a modded out lS2 gto...some American muscle. I love that car
