you mean these puppies aren't that fast? I thought for sure I had a solid 15 second truck...I mean, I can spin the tires off the line. That equates to being fast doesn't it?

I appreciate the fact you aren't trying to make personal attacks, it's just I have been in the scene for a little bit and have a fairly decent knowledge of what works on the street and how things line up.
In the end you can't really count anything out, all it takes is money. You can pick any car you would like, and with enough money I could make it an insane machine. Have you ever seen a LS1 swapped Honda S2000? Or the Focus they threw the Cobra motor and drivetrain into?

Cobra's are often the streets benchmark. They are the one car that almost everyone at some point tries and aspires to beat whether it be a stock one, or a Kenne bell. But believe me they are definately beatable. My story is 100% true, no need to lie about it really. The driver was a street racer who was always out racing and came after me after I beat a car that beat him (modded EVO9)... We actually raced about 4 times in a row.

As for where I was, Santee area in SOCAL. .

An injector can ONLY flow so much fuel. So given the fact that these are 42# injectors, the MAXIMUM HP that these injectors will support, is roughly 650-670hp. So we know that in a BEST case scenario, that 408 was putting down 650-670 flywheel HP.

Those heads will support WAY more than that if they indeed DO flow 314cfm at 0.600" lift. He needs to upgrade his fuel system so he can take better advantage of those cubes and heads!

Looks like in the first video, the Cobra was missing a gear in the 1st two runs. It's very obvious by the 1) sudden & dramatic loss of acceleration, and 2.) the chirp as he shifts the car into a lower gear instead of a higher one, DOH! In the last run, the Cobra catches up and pulls past until he (cobra driver) again lets off via a sudden decrease in momentum.

The other vid was a stock Z06. Not exactly a fair race. The modded 408 was a good one, but again, that 408 should have so much more potential. I can only assume if the Vette owner put as much $$$ into that 408 as the neon had in it, it would be much closer.

In the end, it all boils down to how much you can dump into your drivetrain.

I can't even do that much, the 5.4L might spin one or two wheels, but it doesn't do it for four wheels. I still love my AWD though.

Good grief. I think the first video the Z06 screwed up something for sure. What does that Neon run in the 1/4? To pull a Z06 like that he would have to have some serious power and be running 10's.

Well, the neon was running pump gas which was somewhere around 550FWHP....
On race fuel that car makes 792FWHP. He doesnt track it, just street race. He's been building the car for a while now and has some pretty crazy races with high end cars.

If he had been on race fuel and it would have looked like the Z06 wasnt even racing.

rms8... well all is fair on the street. One could say the race was unfair for the neon having only half the cylinders and being a neon Vs a new Z06 with twice the cylinders
The neon still had way less overall invested then the Z06 owner.

True. But switch the roles around and take these cars out to an HPDE event and the Z06 will eat it alive. Not only that but the Neon engine wouldn't last for crap making that kind of power either whereas the Z06 would run all day long.

But, for the street and drag applications it's awesome. Fast as hell.

That motor could take a direct hit from an atomic bomb. It was built by a company named AMS out of IL. They produce some insane vehicles and he put a lot of money into having that motor built.

But yeah it's only made to go real fast in a straight line.
