5.4 Triton Lariatt with 87K miles

Just replaced both front hubs and vacuum switch. Huge difference. Used the Moog replacements and only took 45 minutes per hub.

Did the "Bambi Mod" and "Gotts Mod" (using the Spectre hose kit).

Also 3rd brake light was leaking because the clear plastic had seperated from base assembly. Replaced with LED.

There was a problem that everytime I stepped on brakes, radio would mute and would need to be turned back up manually. Had to snip the wire to the radio from the backup sensors (supposed to mute radio when sensors started screaming). Problem cured and made no change in sensors. They are loud (irritating) enough to overcome radio volume even if it's turned up loud.

Other than regular maintenance items like brakes, tires and the known issues of std airbag recall, FPDM and spark plugs and water leaks, everything else is origional.

Been pretty lucky and love this truck.

Hey Guys, Haven't been here since 2001, today I just bought a 2004 F150 FX4 with 36k miles, the truck has a 3-1/2 lift or leveling kit, 20" Wheels with 305/55-20's, magnaflow cat back dual exhaust, edge performance programmer, cold air kit, DVD system etc...etc..etc..., Been doing some reading here and looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Just wanted to stop by and say hello.

Looks like I nee to change my signature.

Hub replaced. Idler wheel replaced along with two different serpetine belts. Rear U joint replaced.
Bad COP..Cigarette lighter stopped working. Lights on driver side window buttons dead. Drivers side window won't go up. $350..I push it up by hand..
Rear emergency brake adjuster fell off because of rust. The funny part was it was ****ING FORD CERTIFIED..!! Other than that it's fine...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alot of issues

You really wanna hear how my 04's holding up? long storry.

First, saw the truck on autotrader listed for $9,999 with 141k miles. Went to the dealer and asked what kinda work has been done with it, they didnt tell me at first, said it was nothing major, manager eventually told me they replaced a cam phazer and O2 senser. So the same day i took it home it started missing and lungeing at stop lights. And later a loud Static sound from the engine.

After a week they came and towed it back to the dealer. They took it to a local **** hole shop where they replaced a bunch of parts on the engine, after 3 months of being in the shop they were finally freaking done, test drove it, same problems.....

Then the dealer took it to a ford dealership (like they should have in the first place) and they said it needed a new engine bad because it was completley messed up..

It sat there for 2 weeks, i called and threatened to call a lawyer, now they just bought an 06 engine with 61k miles on it, and its been in the same shop for the past 2 weeks, still dont have my truck.

Mine has 146K on it. '04 STX 4.6L 4x2.

So far I have had two BIG repair jobs:

- right rear brake light
- driver's side rear view mirror

That's it. It's doing great.

Fixin to roll to the 90K mark... I have a ton of maintenace to do to her when I get back but other than that she has been a really good truck. Moved my family and I across the country twice. I do believe I have to replace the vtc on the drivers side but I will replace both. I hope that fixes the rattle/ticking noise. Man I don't want to replace a phaser for sure!!

My 04 FX4 has 88,000 miles. Only problem was the driver window motor died so I bought one off eBay for $50 and replaced myself.
I also changed the spark plugs and all 14 quarts of ATF in the tranny and transfer case to prevent any issues.
Runs strong and loving it

mine has 69k on it. replaced the passenger side window motor. the "ticking" is getting annoying but im thinking its VCT sensors since its only at idle. all in all she's doing pretty good

btw, i HATE having 4 cats makes the exhaust SO quiet. i have a flowmaster 10 which is a loud muffler yet its quiet as can be.. i need to cut out those rear cats soon.

Bought my 2004 FX4 supercrew 2 years ago, had 36,000 miles and now at 59,000.

Since I bought it i've:
1. had 4 spark plugs break off upon removal, had to buy thre special tool to get the parts out.
2. front left caliper froze up
3. rear right e-brake adjuster froze
4. sounds like a diesel due to cam phasers
5. replaced rear end lube due to posi-disc issue, still shutters a little
6. now dealing with the IWE issue when the temp falls below 20 degrees
7. sunroof leaks if it rains for more than a few hours
8. tires bald before 50K
9. brakes gone at 50K
10. passenger door has to be nudged to open
11. passenger window button inop

good thing I only paid $17K for it...

maybe i'll go back to Chevy's... how can this be the #1 truck in the USA?

2004 Lariat SCAB 2WD 5.4L, Original Owner ~45,000 miles,

Just did some maintenance: new brake pads and had the rotors turned, new battery, Michelin LTX M/S2s 275/65R18s

Stock everything else. Runs like a top.

I had some window motors go about 3 years ago. And an A/C controller.

My XLT has 77K miles now and the transmission died last month and had to be replaced. This truck is the most addictive vehicle I've ever owned. It's my daily driver and I did not mind paying all that money to have the tranny redone.
The engine however has lost its oomph and I'm sad about that. Yet I still love this thing and will drive it forever. No regrets.... THE BEST LOOKING MOST COMFORTABLE TRUCK BAR NONE!
