Ok I might have missed this earlier, but what were you avoiding? Was it a deer? Man I am sorry to hear that. I was just over at Black Sky today and we were talking about your truck. I'll have to tell them the news tomorrow. Glad you are ok.

Even though you might have gotten them cheaper, give the insurance company the highest suggested retail of every mod you have done and tell them that, that is the cost to replace and that should cover all of your mods, your deductable, and then some. Good luck bro, glad everyone was ok. TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO BUCKLE UP!!!
unfortunately, MOST insurance companies will NOT cover ANY mods, the price of your vehicle as listed in one of the blue books is what you'll get...and unless you had GAP insurance, you might not even get back what you still owe.
there is a separate policy i believe you can buy to help cover the mods, but i'm not exactly sure about that.

I'd say it'd normally be way more then $8K but since he's doing a lot of it himself and getting set up with parts then it'll be a lot lower.

You're looking at least at:

New rear bedside (replace and paint)
Front fenders [couldn't tell if the right one was messed up but I'm guessing so] (replace and paint)
Who knows on what kind of engine damage (including radiator and fans)
Broken rim
Side mirror
New tire
The tons of other internals and sensors, not to mention any other transmission damage done but towing it onto a flat bed in park.

Remember back to my accident almost the exact time last year? That wasn't nearly as much body damage, and no frame work, but an entire new suspension and with some body and paint work combined with suspension I was close to $11K. But then again body work and that stuff is a lot more expensive further north for some reason. Not to mention I went to the best place in the midwest for repairs which came with a price. It's been a year and the truck rides just as good as the day it rolled off the lot.

Glad to hear everyone is ok!

Did they know it was lifted? My insurance company does not know about it being lifted and they'd probally end up blaming the accident on the modifications and dropping everyone on the policy which is not a option. I wish I could get rid of it but thats not a option either. I'm going to fix it better than new. I'm going to end up getting it wet sanded as well to get rid of all of the swirls and orange peel.

I have Progressive and they covered the repair and replacement of every modification. Custom paint and everything right down to Silverstar light bulbs in the fogs.

All I had to do was show pictures that I had those modifications on the truck if they flew off the truck during the accident. That was easy to do because as an owner of a highly modified vehicle (like most of us here) I took lots of pictures of my modifications.

I know its not going to be double digits for sure, not around here. There is no suspension damage other than a blown shock. There is no damage to the front left fender nor is any mirror damaged. The bed side is a possible fix, who knows? I'm looking at for sure, new bumpers front and back, new upper bumper, lower valance, passenger headlight, grille/surround, hood, wheel, center console, radiator/support, windshield washer fluid box, fan/shroud, maybe fan clutch, windshield. Plus most of the techs said that the transmission will be fine, they said it can handle that kind of stress.

My insurance company didn't know about any of my modifications and they didn't bat an eye at them when it came to repairing and replacing them. I have Progressive. Just about every policy clearly reads pre-accident condition. (This is also mandated by the state.)

They could drop you from renewing your policy however, they could not drop your other family members and most states have laws against them dropping you and denying your claim.

Granted I'm not lifted, but they can't blame an accident on a legal suspension modification as a reason to deny a claim. They could use the modifications as a reason to not insure you on a new policy, but they cannot deny this policy claim.

Just remember there are a lot of things that go with replacing those bumpers (ie. supports, brackets, etc) But I get the idea of just giving the big things that come to mind.

That accident shows a tough RIZE lift. I kind of wonder if a cheaper lift would have survived that.

I understand that but like I said, I've got a friend working a whole lot of magic. Knock on wood. .

I wish I could file the claim but the day is over so its really out of my hands now isn't it?

What do you guys think about this though? Black bumpers with FX2 grille and Harley Headlights? . . or just go chrome bumpers with stock headlights?
I'd stick with chrome bumpers since most of the other trucks with the Rize lift are FX4's with painted bumpers.

You should really consult with your parents on this one and I'd be suprised if with a truck as expensive as yours, they don't want to file an insurance claim to repair it.

You don't need to call the same day to file a claim. It can be a day or two later.

Duke,

They are the ones who do not want to file. They are afraid of being dropped completely and being denied or at best the huge increase in the insurance because of the accident.
