Hate to break it to you, but your not. It will still never be the same. I dumped my 99 in the ditch and laid it on its side....you cant get everything back to perfect...my current 05 had the box pushed in in front of the back tire and took it to the best body shop in Iowa and you can still see a few minor things that arnt perfect. Most people wont know but i know.

Out of both trucks ive had repainted between 2 different body shops, they just dont seem to get it painted as good as the factory. More orange peel or something, but its just not the same if you look REAL close.

I agree that it looks like a 40-45 mph impact, it's just that most times the vehicle loses a significant portion of its speed during the slide, braking, jumping curbs going through ditches etc. So you are telling us that from a 40-45 mph cruise you drove straight into a telephone pole without slowing down? Man, I'd sooner admit to going 65. Make sure that your passengers put their seatbelts on, okay? And try to keep the rubber side down.

I really dont think they would deny coverage either...but if there is any doubt find out. Its not worth the risk. I know you have better more sense than some of the other idiots on here that have bragged about not having insurance in the past.

I just got back the estimate and they say $11,000. .

I'll end up buying the parts through a friend and letting another body shop do the work which will end up being about $6,000 cheaper or file through insurance. . like I said, I'll keep everyone updated.

Was the animal a fishtail?

I've found the best way to scare an animal out of your path is tapping the brakes, ceramic works better.

You should be thanking god you didn't swerve into a bus of nuns, not that your friends are ok even though they didn't have their seatbelts on.

Damn I love melodrama!

Man I just read every post. I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I know I just recently got my truck out of the shop from water damage $7K. I had to claim, not that rich. Glad to hear your friends are okay and so are you. It's a real dilemna on the insurance thing but I hope everything works out for you.

 DAMN Mike, Hate to see this. SO glad to hear you are OK.

Just do yourself a favor and run the claim. It's why insurance exists for christ's sake.

First of all, just read the post, glad to see that you made it out OK, the truck can be fixed. Like everyone else said, this is a good time to change up the look of the front!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with all of the R-title cars that I've helped rebuild (a few Cavaliers, a Focus, a Jetta, a Grand Am, A Super Duty, although never an F-150) the airbag sensor is always located inside the vehicle, either under the dash on the tranny hump or under the center console. These sensors are motion sensitive, so they will only deploy if the force of the impact is great enough to warrant usage. They aren't in the grille so that they pop when the sensor is crushed, then they would only work when the impact is in direct line with the sensor. Even though they are inside the vehicle however, they usually need replaced after airbag deployment as they are only one-time use.

It was raining, dark out, I could not tell you. It looked like either a coyote or a dog.

FX2 or Harley grille?

harley- i've seen an FX2 in person, and imo its a bit too flimsy. i wouldn't want to be on a gravel road and have my brother kick up a rock and break a fin but, i like the looks of the FX2 more- keep in mind with the fx2, you need to order the small front emblem as the stock one will not fit...
