That's understandable. I'd suggest they put you on a different policy later when you get older too. You won't get their deduction benefits, but it'll keep them from seeing an insurance increase from your accident.

That's a lot of cash to not claim, not to mention if you hit a part in the repairs that you can't do yourself.

I'd look up your state laws regarding insurance and them dropping you from a claim.

I had a bad accident when I was on my parent's policy and the insurance company made my parents sign a waiver saying I wouldn't drive any vehicles on their policy or else they'd drop them. This was even one of the big insurance companies (Allstate).

First off Thump I REALLY hate to hear about your accident. Best of luck getting it fixed back like it should be.

Has anybody actually ever seen a wreck in one of these trucks that the airbags actually DID go off in??? I know there has been several fairly significant front end collisionsin volving people on here and the fact that air bags didnt go off is always mentioned. How hard of a lick does it really take to set them off????

I am almost positive the only time the passengers side airbag is off is when the light over the radio is actually on "PASSENGERS SIDE AIR BAG OFF". I know when my nephew rides in the front the light stays on.

I hate to be like this, but, if your parents and you can't swallow the rate hike from claiming, then what the heck are they doing buying you such an expensive truck? Correct me if I'm off base here...

As a junior in high school, I wrecked my parents' old junky car, so I got to ride the bus until I saved enough to put a down payment on my S-10. My parents were pretty generous too, but dam.n...

Thumper, I'm a lineman for a power co. I can tell you that the power co. could file a claim on your insurance. They can make your ins. pay for the lose in revenue for every house that was without power and any structural damage to the light pole and any associated hardware.

It's a good chance that they might be contacted by your local power co.

Glad to hear everyone is o.k.

If it were my truck I would not want it anymore after that kind of damage! Like someone said on here...there are a lot of loose ends that may not look damaged but when everything else gets fixed they will start to fail. Trust me...I guarantee your whole truck compressed a little. That makes tension on your whole drive train, over time it will wear it out. You will have nothing but trouble in the long run, and not to mention if you were to sell it you would take a hit on it. My brothers truck was hit like that and he had nothing but troubles then he sold it because it wasnt worth the trouble.

thump bro that sucks- i'd call up another insurance provider in your area (like im with state farm, but there are 50 state farm offices in Missoula- call a different branch than your actual agent) and ask them about the company's policy regarding coverage of legal suspension modifications under Florida Law- see what they say- if they balk at it- then continue on your route of self-repair...if they cover suspension mods within reason- file the claim. my mother's been with state farm for 18 years straight- my bros toyota (that ran into the gas station) was lifted-- didn't bat an eye at the lift and the repairs necessary to fix it- my guess is that if you have been with your carrier for a long time, and are in good standing they may overlook the lift, even if it is against policy-

either way, hope you have good luck getting it back into shape-
JJ

The power was knocked out to about 3 houses for only about 10 minutes and it was back on in no time. I hate to make 'light' of the situation but both of my friends that were riding with me had hit telephone poles so I guess it was just a matter of time. .

While that sounds good but we all know that rates are going to be go if we claim the accident. Over time its going to add up to the cost to just fix it plus the fact that this will stay with me until I'm at least 25 years old and probally closer to 30 years old. Lets just put it this way, nothing is certain right now. We are just trying to weigh all options, we don't even have an estimate yet. I'm not worried about the truck, it can be repaired and it'll be good as new. My mothers 2004 EB Expedition had $12,000 in damage due to a head on collision, it wasn't totaled. They fixed it and it has been perfect since. What do you think would be the rate increase, just curious? I've never had to deal with this before so I'm in the dark to say the least. I appreciate your help as well as everyone else's.

I'm just glad my friends and I arn't seriously injured. I couldn't go to bed last night, thinking about what could of happened to my friends. It was a long night to say the least.

Just thank God.

I was thinking the same exact thing. I've got Allstate, by the way.

Man, that sucks.. Good luck with everything!!
If it were me, I'd definitly think about towing the truck straight to my house and I'd have a all night wrenching party pulling that lift off.. Then call the insurance company. Glad to see everyone came out ok.

I wrecked the truck im driving now when i had just a leveling kit on it. It was still a suspension altering mod and they found out about it, they still repaired everything back to spec. I have Allstate also by the way. Just call around to different agents in the area that are not going to know your agent and ask them their thoughts. If you do that DO NOT give them any personal information about you or the truck just tell them you have a almost new truck with a suspension lift on it and go from there. Just see what they say, get that agents name and write down what he says is policy so that your agent doesnt try to screw you.

What do you guys think about this though? Black bumpers with FX2 grille and Harley Headlights? . . or just go chrome bumpers with stock headlights?
chrome bumpers and stock headlights
i thought it made it look real slick
having black lights IMO would look stupid on your truck.
the chrome n the black when you have the chrome bullbar is really nice
