No key hole on passenger side?

No key hole on passenger side?

Thought I saw a supercrew or supercab today with no key hole to lock or unlock the passengerside door from the outside. Why would they do that? Can you add a keyed lock to match the other side?

That’s right, 04/05 trucks equipped with the keyless entry system only have a key slot on the drivers door

Ford's phased out the passenger side keylock in a lot of their vehicles since about '01 or '02.

They’re trying to cut back on weight along with the plastic fuel door

Yes and it also appears that they also made the Tcase, Drifeshaft, and rear end plastic on mine as well.

Look around in some parking lots, you'll see that Ford isn't the only make that is doing it

Hell, say what you want but it would been a much cleaner look without a keyhole on both sides.

thats stupid, who cares it make sno difference, 99.9% of the people hav enever even noticed. Key hole or no hole who cares make O difference.

Sure buddy, i care so i got rid of both of my key holes.

I have a OEM passenger handle pull & bucket w/ the keyhole available, but i dont know where you could get the lock cylidner to make it work for your keys.

That just means less key scratches on the passenger side of the truck when you initially miss the keyhole

i never use the keyhole i got now,and im sure alot of people dont.im sure the only reason they did put one on the truck is for emergencies,like if the battery goes dead or soemthing of that nature.

You forgot the lack of a light in the glove compartment. I'd hate to see my gas milage with all these heavy luxuries.

Even my old Ranger had a light in there.

Think about it how often does the average person walk up to the passenger door and put the key in it, you use the remote or the keypad. If you dont have the key pad then you use the remote. I've never even noticed it before and i meen it makes really 0 difference to me. But if it does to you then go to the dealer and pay your money and get it put up the way you want it. Personally i dont care but if you do then get your truck the way you want it.

Ford is behind the curve, others did it years ago.
