Either there will be a keyhole on each side of the truck or I've bought my last Ford.

Um, and does your remote say Ford on it?
Actually they tell me the passenger door lock was an option. Might take a look at your window sticker.

not all remote door opener's say ford on it, my 02 and 97 f-150 door remotes never had the ford logo on them, I don't have the window sticker, and if the pass. door lock was an option, that's just a silly, I got curious when I first saw the post, I will check my build date, I think my f-150 was built some time in 03 as a 04, Truck is not a Heratage, my dad's 02 mustang dosent have a pass door lock.

No just the ones from Ford. many many dealerships add their own actuators and remotes. Mine had both front locks, but only an actuator in the drivers door. This was added by the dealer, who wanted to sell me remote opening drivers door only, for 400 bucks. Thus I would have got a key fob that did not say Ford. I passed, and they removed the module, making a mess of the wires, leaving me a couple new Ford relays and a perfectly good actuator in the door that I found when I put my own 60 dollar, two door system in the truck.

AS long as the remotes work, I don't care If the ford logo is on it, on the back of my remote I have Ford Motor Company, Part number for the remote and ID for the remote door code, + plus a Canadian certifcation number, Power door locks/remote are standard on the XLT. Build date on my f-150 was 08/03 at the Norfork assembly plant.

If it has a ford part number, it's a ford part. That means you can use it with the keyless pad or an aftermarket ford keyless pad. Handy. The guys that get the 'aftermarket' alarms/keyless can't use the keyless pads. Which sucks.

Unlock the door with a key? I have forgotten how.
Me too, tuill last weekend when the dealer loaned me a Ranger while mine was in the shop. Talk about a hassle! Plus all that road noise and bouncing around. Sure glad they got mine ready quickly. We sure get spoiled!

I couldn't tell you the last time I used the key hole to unlock the door. I either use the remote, or the keyless entry pad. I think I have only stuck the key in there once to make sure it worked. Now I'm afraid I'll slip with the key and scratch the door.

I just picked up my new Lariat last night and was wondering why the driverside had the only keyhole. Found lots of good speculation here.

I also only have a keypad on the driver's door. Should I have gotten a remote fob too? Otherwise how do I unlock and open the passenger door for my dates?
