Believe it or not, bare bones XL's have no power door locks or windows.
Ya still need a key, and ya still turn the window crank!

My Lariats a virgin also.

If you have the remote & the keypad, why would you ever stick a key in the door?

Ugh but I hate those round fog lights do you think we could get them to include some 04/05 bumpers?

your battery would never be that drained that there isn't enough juice to activate the power locks.

Not true. Leave the headlights on and come back in about six hours. My wife has done it in a dozen cars, and there is not enough charge left to keep the time on the radio, or preset stations. Nothing like the power it takes to throw a door lock actuator.

In addition to saving $3 per truck for Ford, they might have deleted the passenger side key to help thwart the "screwdriver in the key cylinder" break ins that happen so often on the F150s. Passenger side would be on the sidewalk side of a dimly lit alley, could be against a wall in a parking garage etc...

Just a thought...

You give them too much credit. It's the 3.00. They did a survey of owners a few years back and found that many people (most) had never put a key in it if they had power locks. My truck came with the passenger lock, as it did not option the power locks. In heavy traffic it's safest to get in from the passenger side and slide over, and they know that. So if you don't get power locks, you will almost always get the passenger lock.
Deleting the lock probably saves them as much money as the door actuators cost.

I don't think I could slide past the center console in my truck!

I agree with sales the way they are, my guess is save 5 bucks where ever possible and add it up. I'm sure just getting rid of trim pieces, adding plastic gas covers, and dropping lights/keyholes added up to millions in savings on parts alone.
