Now this thread is going downhill .

 

I originally test drove a white/tan Lariat 4x4 that was sweet. The info center with "XX miles to E" was cool! However, I thought it was more of a beautiful truck that I would want my wife to drive. The FX4 model looked and felt more like a man's truck. They were both around $40,000 sticker--no real difference in the price. I guess it depends on what suits you best. By the way, Thumper's truck has to be one of the baddest *** trucks I've ever seen.

 

That's because of the FX4 stickers!

 

. . and because its a Lariat, you have no idea how many people ask me how I got a Lariat with the "FX4 Package"

 

Now I know why it looks so good!

 

It means that my wife had nothing to do with the purchase...candy asses!

Forget the Lariat and Fx4.....imho I think the XLT is the greatest looking truck out there.

However, I have an '05 STX ($16700 with 22 miles on it) with SCab, 4x4, 6Disc Audiophile, 6.5' bed....perfect work truck for me and looks great. If I wanted to spend 30-40K for a truck (which I couldn't anyways) I'd buy a muscle car.

 

The Lariat is basically the same thing on the exterior as a solid color XLT.

I don't know who would spend 30-40K on a truck either, I bought mine for $27,000 OTD/TTT.

 

LOL! OK, it means that my wife, girlfriend, and parents had nothing to do with the purchase of my truck!

My wife got the Eddie Bauer...the equivalent of a Lariat in the Explorer. She likes all that pampering crap. My FX4 listed for $38,000, which is more than most Lariats.

In all honesty though, the Lariat and FX4 are so close in features. Ford should really make FX4 an option package again.

 

I agree with thumper, but I wish Ford would offer all of the Lariat interior options with the FX4 exterior.

 

I hate to keep beating this thread to death buy do any of you previous lariat owners remeber actually getting something from ford for buying the lariat. I got a fleece blanket with BUILT FORD TOUGH on it with my 99 lariat and I think some of the 97 and 98 owners were getting ford folding lawn chairs. I'm not sure what year they quit doing this but all i got with my 05 lariat was deeper in debt.

 

Come on now! That stops when the girl friend becomes the wife so that is not a good reason to get the column shifter.
