At around 62 mph, the high pitched vibration would stop but the steering wheel would start to shake around 68 mph. The first two times they balanced the tires. The dealer was going to replace the tires but Ford would not let them. The third trip to the dealer, the Engineer ordered what we thought were new axles (two weeks ago). Today the dealer called and said a whole new rear end to include the calipers and pads was delivered. They will install the rear end Friday.

I have to look into this. But I have not vibes/shimmy or nibbles at all. Just a head's up for those with the steering wheel nibble.
Just when you think your out of the tribe your tires will get a little out of blance and we will pull you back in, at least may not have the driveline vibration.
The only two ways out are death (total the truck) or make Ford buy back the truck with the help of the DSB and Lemon Laws. I don't think Ford can fix it or it will cost them way too much money to really repair and not a band-aid.

Anyone seen a list of any/all design or part changes between the 04's and 05 F-150's? I'm kinda curious. Can't find anything.

Smile One step nearer . . . .

The Fla State Attorney General's Office accepted my Lemon Law request today. They will notify within 40 days of a date.

Showed the papers to my local salesman just for kicks and he gave me a direct phone # to the Ford Customer Service Rep for my district. He said he would vouch for me if needed. It helps that I have been involved in 6 new vehicle purchases from him over the past 4 years (3 expeditions, 2 F150s, and an Explorer Sport Trac) from friends and family members. I'm hoping it'll carry some weight.

Will keep everyone posted.

Had mine in the shop today. They put the new complete axle assembly and three new tires. The truck now rides as smooth as glass.

Mine was performed as instructed by the regional engineer out of Atlanta Ga. Tell them to call my dealer.

DSB package inaccurate

I got my DSB package on Saturday for my case on Wednesday the 8th. Not much time for review but I got it done. It was full of inaccuracies. The FSE is towing the company line for sure. Somehow he missed 3 repair attmepts in his records. Two of those 3 repairs included replacing the driveshaft, wheels and hubs. I consider those major repairs to a truck with less then 1000 miles on it. I've written a letter containing the many contradictions and am going to fax it in a minute. Since a few of the contradictions have to do with the road test, it's really just his word against mine, there isn't any written documentation on that. This has really put a lot of stress on my family and my wife is having a hard time with me spending so much time on this issue. I just want it to be over.

Make sure you guys read all your DSB paperwork before your hearing. Be prepared.

zeusdog,

Your just begining my friend. I was in your seat several weeks ago and I'm still waiting on the DSB to contact my dealer to work out the financial end of my replacement truck. The worse thing is my replacement vehicle is sitting at the dealership with a hold ticket hanging from the mirror. It's like someone giving you a gift but you can't accept it until the time is right.

Why would you want another Ford?

I'm sure it will take some time. They already requested my payoff information in order to expidite any payoff. I certainly do not want another Ford vehicle after everything they have put me through. Just more problems keep showing up. Now my rear door won't shut correctly. Why would you want another Ford product after all of this? Ford had no intention of doing anything for you, why give them your business again?

zeusdog,

What are you considering as a replacement once the DSB is over?

zeusdog,

I'm taking a replacement truck because whenever I had a problem with a Ford vehicle, Ford made it right. I had piston slap in my 2000 F-150 and Ford gave me a full bumper to bumper extended warranty because I didn't want them to replace the engine. Ford bought back my 2004 due to driveline vibration and once again did the right thing. I have owned other Ford trucks over the years and really like their products.

I have friends that have other truck makes and they are having issues as well. As long as Ford continues to make things right I'll be driving a Ford.

Ford was FORCED to replace your truck by the DSB. Ford did not willingly do the right thing. How come you do not realize that? Ford would be much happier not having to do a thing for you and leave you with a defective vehicle. You need to file a complaint about this so Ford is forced to recall. I've only bought 3 new cars and many used ones. I've never had any problems with engine or driveline ever in any of those cars. I've bought used trucks and had engine and tranny problems, only the American made ones. I don't buy a brand new vehicle waiting for problems to arise so I can keep making trips to the dealer so they can fix it. Why buy a new vehicle then? That seems rediculous to me. This whole process has been infuriating.

As for the other question, I'm buying a used Toyota 2 years old. If I get my cash back from my SuperScrewed I can just buy it outright and save some in the process. Live and learn. Fix or Repair Daily is Fords creed. I'm sorry but I can't even believe anybody would even consider getting another Ford after this ordeal. It's one thing if they had stepped up and replaced the vehicle but they didn't. They were forced to by a third party. Wake up and smell the roses.

Unfortunately, resolving these problems depends a lot on the individuals at the dealer and local Ford reps. I have a 2004 Supercrew that vibrated at 50 mph and it gradually reduced at higher speeds. The dealer went through TSB 04-3-3 and put the damper on the left rear spring hanger. This reduced but did not eliminate the vibration. After the video training others have mentioned, he said it was in the rear axle. They ordered a new complete rear axle, put it in last week and the vibration is gone. He said that Ford had received some rear axles from their supplier with out of balance differential carrier castings. Now I would not give up this truck for a Lexus (unless it can tow my boat like the F150).

Dropped my truck off again this morning to have the drive shaft dampner installed. I haven't had a chance to drive it on the highway to see if the vibration is fixed when I recieved a call from my service advisor. He said he just recieved word that Ford is coming out with a new TSB for the 04 F-150 vibration in a week or so, having to do with the Steering rack. This would make more sense since my vibration is in the steering wheel. Anyways hopefully the dampner fixed the problem but for some reason I doubt it. Will advise.
