Need tire info.

So I want to put new tires on my 1986 F150. It is 4x4 and The main use will be for driving in the winter time, hunting so some mud, and for hauling things from time to time the rest of the year. Single cab with a flat bed on it.

The three choices I am at right now are BF Goodrich A/T $170.00, Yokohama Geolander A/T $145.00, and General Grabber A/T $140.00, I believe prices are mounted and balanced price. Tire size is 31x10.5-R15

I have used the Yokohama's on a 2000 Ranger and liked them, but not sure if they really have that aggressive look I want for this truck, I have never used the other two before.

Whats my best bet here you all?

Do mud tires work very well in snow?

Are the Goodrich tires worth the money?

Is 31x10.5-R15 a good size for all-terrain tires?

Any help would be great, I am pretty much tire dumb.

Thanks, Clint

I've had a few sets of the BFG AT's in the past and they are worth the money. Great all around tire. Nice ride quality, quiet tread, and awesome in the snow. Have you checked out the Gooyear Wrangler Duratracs? Supposed to be an awesome all around tire. All the qualities of the BFG's plus wider tread pattern and side lugs for mud. And they're severe snow rated too.

Out of those choices, go with the BFG AT KO's without a doubt.

Here's another vote for the BFG's in that set of choices.

Consider Toyo AT's too though, I'd bet they are cheaper than the BFG's too.

Savage02, I checked out those Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, and I like them. If the price is right I might get them. Just hope they will look good on my year of truck. I have read about how they have a loose sidewall. You know anything about that?

ChrisAU, those Toyo AT's look like good tires, but just don't look aggressive enough for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Anyone else have a suggestion on a tire?

Thanks for the input everyone.

I'd also suggest the Nitto Terra Grappler, **** Cepek FC II, Pro Comp Xtreme AT and Mickey Thompson ATZ.

first thing you can do is scratch those general's and yoko's off your list. now you're left with the BFGs and Wandells suggestions. Price em out again and report back to us

I've ran both the BFG AT and Nitto Terra's and highly recommend them both. I mostly stay on the pavement nowadays and the Nitto's have a great feel, nice and smooth. When I had my BFGs I ran them in all conditions and they were excellent.

Your three picks I'd go BFG's but I have the Terra Grapplers and love them and their pretty cheap.

Out of what you posted I'd go with the BFG's.

Another tire you may want to look at is Maxxis. Particularly the Buckshots. Great tire for the money.

Well thanks for all the suggestions you all. I ordered the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac today in 31x10.5-R15, and am getting them mounted tomorrow. My price is $165.00 each, (price includes mounting) at a local shop. I had called Big O Tire and they wanted $215.19 each plus, $15.00 a piece to mount them!

Thats a huge price difference! $699.60 compared to $976.01!
