1998 F250 Half-door cables questions

Gentlefolk,

New to the forum because of an old truck.

And I know I am posting a 250 question in the 150 forum, but I thought year of truck was more relevant than the size.

The 1998 F250 extended cab truck has one half-door on the passenger side. It came down with a case of the “I don’t wannas” when I tried to open it.

YouTubed the issue and found the cables are a known issue and was assured by all this was a 20 minute fix.

Right…

Anyway, I got the interior disassembled and the door opened my manually pulling the cables. So far, good ‘nuff….

I plan on replacing both cables, not just the caps, but Amazon is not helping. I don’t see an option for ONE pair of upper and lower cables. I see a pair of uppers offered and a pair of lowers offered, but I just need one of each.

Is there a source where I can get one set of upper and lower cables? Or are the two of each upper and lower all that is available?

I am also not clear on the top cable installation. Is the top lock unscrewed and removed to attach the cable? If so, how is it fitted back to the top of the door, short of taking the door off to assist in placement?

The bottom lock appears to be easily lifted out by the cable and lowered back in, correct?

Thanks for any assistance!

You are referring to a F250 LD - same body as the F150, right?

Presumably…. Apologies, I am not fluent in Ford truck terminology. This is an F250 extended cab with one half-door/third door/suicide door on the passenger side.

Near as I can tell, it is essentially a 150 with beefier suspension.

Sounds like a f250 light duty, and also 3 door. It's body is an f150, with 7 lug wheels.

Well, the cables were ordered and received, the correct type, and the YT vid instructions generally spot-on, all missing some important details, but the door is fixed. And if I keep a 26 yr old truck for 26 more years, I already have the spare parts.
