BFG AT KO 305/65/18 or 285/65/18

Hi Guys,

I'm strongly considering these for my 05 F150 FX4 18" OE wheel. Can anyone speak on how these have affected MPG's on our trucks? I'm just curious, this isn't a huge deal, as I know the tires have a great reputation.

Thanks!

If you have a leveling kit go with the 305's, no leveling kit (stock) go with the 285's. Gas mileage will be a little better with the 285's (less rotional mass/weight) but won't be anything too significant. Either way I'm sure you'll love the tires

Thanks! I'm going to order tomorrow. I have the AS 2.5 kit on, so I'll go w/ the 305's. I found them at Discount Tire Direct for 282.00 ea. Does this sound reasonable, or are there other less expensive places to get these? I live in Olathe, KS near Kansas City. Thanks for your help!

Will Do Thanks!

I'm thinking of painting my OE wheels black as well. What do you think of this idea? Powdercoating is an option, but pretty pricy.

Those 305's will look good on your truck. Duplicolor sells a paint made for wheels. If you prepped them right, they should look good. Not sure how it will hold up though.

Sleestak,

Thanks for the feedback and details on painting the wheels. I'm going to look into this a little further. I have Tue and Wed off this week, so I may try this out. I think a flat black will be the way to go. What do you think?

BFG AT KO 305/65/18 or 305/60/18?

Just to confirm, am I ok w/ 305/65/18 or should I go w/ 305/60/18 on an OE 18 in wheel? Also I am considering possibly upgrading to the Rockstar 18x9 or ProComp 7005 18x9. Am I ok w/ the same tire on these? Thanks guys for your help!

I wouldn't paint the OEM wheels, but the tire choice is very good

You'll be fine with the 305/65/R18's on the stock wheel....many people on here are running that setup. The BFG A/T's don't come in a 305/60/R18 - you'd have to go with a different tire with that size in case you didn't already know.

Those tires will be fine on an 18x9 wheel as well. You just need to be concerned about wheel backspacing (to avoid rubbing issues) when you go to a wider wheel.

Thanks fellas for your feedback. I did find a 305/60/18 on Discount Tire Direct for $287 ea, but it is a special order tire. As long as the 305/65/18's will fit, I'll go that route. Now just to decide on the wheels. Any thoughts on the Rockstars or Pro Comp 7005's in black?

If it's a 305/60/18 it's not a BFG all terrain as BFG doesn't make that size in their all terrain series but they do for their mud terrain KM2's. Anyway, the 305/65/18 will fit no problem on stock wheels and danf150 (who posted in this thread) has pro comp 7005 with 305/65/18 all terrains and doesn't have any rubbing issues, although I think he had to trim a little. There's atleast one other person on the forums running the rockstars with the 305/65/18 without any problems either. You'll be fine
