Looks like I bought my truck one year to soon 20 extra horses and the leather wraped steering wheel on the XLT is what I need and want I may end up trading in for a new one if I don't get a mustang first.

FWIW, you can get a black, leather-wrapped steering wheel from the parts department of your dealer for like $120. Check out the accessories section of the Ford website under F-Series. It is listed there. As for the extra 20hp, you can get that in cheaper ways than replacing the truck.

My wife's looking at a little red Honda convertible with a 2.0 litre engine that puts out 240 hp (only 165 lb ft torque) at 9,000 rpm.

Y2K 7700, The honda S2000 is one of my favorite cars! It is amazing honda can cet that kind of power out of a 2.0L engine. However the dyno tells a slightly different story, like 190HP at the rear wheels. The 1/4 mile trap speeds also bear out the dyno. I know there are losses in the drive train but 50HP? That would be lot of heat generated by loses and would require massive cooling for trans and rear.

A more reasonable actual crank output would be between 210 and 215HP.

Chris

Question

4.6L added 20 horses for 2001. Anyone know how, what Ford did to build in the extra ponies? Wonder if they just re-chipped it?

Chris: If that little car runs like my Goldwing or my son's CBR900RR - it will be a doozie!

Those guys sure can make an engine!

Dogsailer: There are plans for three-valves-per-head and four-valves-per-head (as reported in the industry rags).

Cool

You guys want trucks or racecars? My 4.6 does just fine with a couple of mods for the looks and of course the mpg. I have to admit it does **** me off when a Honda beats me at the stop light, but then I know if I really want to get even, I can just drive over them at the next light , and then carry them home...
Have fun and watch out for them Hondas.
