what 5.4 do I have?

I have a 2004 Expedition NBX. 5.4 with no visible solenoids sticking out of the valve covers. I have a cone shaped air cleaner and plastic valve covers. I'm hearing a clatter noise at times almost like lifters with low oil pressure but no knocking noise like what is described in the YouTube videos.

Are you using 5w20 oil and a Motorcraft filter?

I would use a Motorcraft 5w20 with a MC filter.

See if anything changes.

Nothing wrong with that oil and filter. They are both as good as OEM.
