f150online=LATE MODEL F150's '97 and UP!
Wow. Between the email I have received and the majority of the replies to this post, I guess I'll stick around until, as Chris Sonego said, I hear different from Steve. I am relatively new to this site, and I did notice the bit about '97 and newer, but before I posted my first reply, I read many others and noticed that there were many contributions by people who owned vehicles other than '97 and newer. When I saw this thread last night, there were only two replies to the original post, and I guess I prematurely presumed that since, at that point, it was two to one in favor of "only '97 and newer", that that would be the way it would go. I decided to bow out. I again want to thank the folks who took the time to email me personaly asking me to stay. With that being said, Frank and Red, and anyone else who feels the way they do, please take note of my handle, it's easy to remember. That way, if you see it next to a new post, you will know right away to just skip it.
Thanks again for all the input on this thread, but maybe it's time to close it.
Take care,
-Chris

You guys need to lay off about being so strict about the 97-up thing. Hey, at least they drive Ford's right? Isn't that the thing that brings us together to talk more than anything? No one here trashes on other model fords, just chevy's and dodge's! Shouldn't that tell you something? If you dont like the post, dont read it! I personally welcome those with older trucks, because it is a fresh insite to this website sometimes. Just my .02.

I hate it when Steve makes us settle these things amongst ourselves. You can't even goad him into taking sides. I wish he would make a stand even if it meant he had to cut us off in mid-sente
We've gotta keep hearing from the pre '97 people because I had several and loved them and want to keep hearing about them. I have had enough experience with them that I could share advice and experiences if need be.

At first it was amusing, then kind of silly, now it's boring......I find almost all feedback informative in some way, shape or form.
Seems like someone is trying to saddle a dead horse here............and that's my
"2 cents"..............although I think I'm owed change..........

Well, at the risk of becoming the target of further character assassination, I guess I'll have my housekeeper take away my caviar and perrier water long enough to reply to some of the earlier posts. What's it say at the top of the home page for this website? "F150 ONLINE - YOUR ONLINE SOURCE FOR LATE MODEL FORD TRUCKS". The stated purpose of this website is for LATE MODEL F-150's. Can anyone deny that that statement is at the top of the homepage?
FrankP & RedRyder -
Please don't think i'm pointing fingers or making any kind of personal attack, but I'm sure both of you have driven other cars/trucks besides a newer F150 right? Besides the "title" or the "purpose" of this site why do you think the "earlier models" should not post here? I'm just being subjective, and BTW I think this thread has out lived its need.
As stated in my earlier post, I'm courious to understand and learn from the "pre '97's" experience with the product. After all the purpose of the site is to gain an insite on the product we all own, right?
That's my opinion, I could be wrong. I have been before.
Let's all get along, and Keep on Truckin' !!
Ps. " Can't we all get along?" We're all acting like a bunch of GM owners! Let's close this thread!!

Ahh, not quite the end!
Actually, everyone in this thread is correct...
F-150 Online is meant as a resource for late-model Ford trucks, primarily F-150's.
However, all models are welcome - though it is important to realize that most of the users own late model vehicles, so it may not be the *best* place to get your questions answered.
Focus is important - once the site loses focus, the quality will decrease, and nobody wants to see that happen.
I have set up dedicated sections of the boards for pre-1997 models, and that should be the best place to post pre-1997 questions...rest assured, even owners of 1998 models check those threads every now and then.

This is irritating. Its a shame that trucks are the new "sports car", and that peeople want to have one as a fashion accesory, or as a status symbol. Most people that have these new trucks dont even use htem as a truck. Have you ever hauled dirt? Air conditioners? I bet these owners that are complaining about pre 97 trucks, have never even hauled sheet rock. A truck isnt supposed to be pretty, or be dropped as a low rider, or for your wife to use for grocerys. And all the problems I see on here for the new trucks are insane. If i paid the amount yuo guys paid for trucks thery better last a decade without a problem. My truck lasted a year before I had any problems, and that was wiht all teh 1985 stock stuff, and after I put n my new Jasper engine itll probably last another 15 years.
thanx to all who have helped me. Everyone else, maybe someday ill be blessed enouhg to ram into your pretty little toy wiht my tank.

Eeeeasy Eddie ! I know how you feel, but with outbreaks like that, you are going to make all of us "Pre '97" folks look bad. It kinda upsets me too. I would think that by expanding a little, this great site would only get better, but it's not your place or mine to step on any toes. Just do what I am planning on doing: Try posting your questions in "pre '97" first. If you don't get a response, then try a more appropriate page, like engines or brakes. It seems to me that the people that are bothered by us older model folks are the ones who are looking for information for themselves, not the ones who are trying to help others. To avoid problems, just make sure you identify yourself in the subject title as an '85, so that people not interested in helping out the older models won't waste their time reading it.
Take care,
-Chris

eddie threat, you don't know how everyone uses their truck. I happen to use my truck as a truck. My previous truck was a 79 f-150 4x4 with lift, mudders, and winch. It was a true tank and so is my 97. I use it every bit as much for a truck as my 79. The bed of my truck has dents and scratches to the metal, scratches down the side from going through the woods. I haul firewood, fourwheelers, boats, lumber supplies, tractors, hay and any thing else I need to, just as I did with my 79. So just be careful when you go accusing new truck owners of not using thier trucks as trucks.

Well, even though I've been called a neurotic dumb *** who needs to get a life by some of my fellow members for stating essentially the same position as our webmaster, I would like to take this opportunity to borrow an expression from the '60's and say "peace man". It was never my intention to p#$% anybody off, even though I apparently succeded in doing just that. Despite what some have said, I'm not some rich jerk but just a regular person who uses his truck for hunting, hauling firewood, helping friends move, etc. No real he-man macho stuff, but I use it as a truck just the same. As a past owner of 1960's and 1980's V-8 Mustangs, I know that our trucks are in no way shape or form a sports car. It's not a status symbol, I don't drive it around the local hamburger stand with huge tires and wheels to pick up girls, it's just my F-150 and I love it. To those members I've offended by having a position different from their own, sorry. Tolerence of other people's opinions is something you will develop as you travel down the road of life. I'm really a pretty nice person, not that much different from you, once you get to know me.
