5.4 won't run under load

5.4 won't run under load

Have a 2000 ford f 150 5.4 130,000 miles. Had a shop change the timing chain and pulleys now the truck will not run under a load any thoughts

How many miles on the plugs and what brand are they?

Just bought the truck with timing chain rattle'n thats what I was told it was thats about all I know

Here is a list of what I would do under those circumstances. Change the plugs, using Motorcraft, change the fuel filter, clean the MAF, clean the throttle body and clean the IAC. Then you will know it has the basic maintenance done.

I would take it back to the shop that did the work. Seems suspect that you just had timing components replaced and now it doesn't run right.

I washed the truck motor and all. Can this cause it to do that.

Mass air Flow sensor and the idle air control. Go to the index in the Articles and How To section and look under the Engine sub section, you will find articles that will help you.

Also, did you change the pulley size? If so, you may need a custom tune for that.

they said, "truck will run under idle, plugs look good maf looks good, any other suggestions same pulley size and all.

Best-case, dry the motor - compressed air.

Worst-case, you've compromised one or more COPS (coil-on-plug). Which usually means replacement.

Water also tends to collect under the boots in the plug wells, depending on how much water pressure was used.
